It is about adjusting. The league's...let's call it "meta" for lack of a better word...changes all the time. And adjustments have to be made.

There is an argument that following every other team is a poor strategy...depending on your resources. (Trying to outspend the Yankees in baseball is an example). So given that, if the Spurs think a way to differentiate itself from the field is to slow the game down and pound the midrange, then so be it. But they need to do it at a rate that makes it more efficient (or as efficient) as what everyone else is doing.

By the way, this is what analytics is really all about. It's about exploiting an edge.

Now we can disagree on where the edge is. But that's a different debate.
