Just imagine how good DeRozan could've been from behind the arc if he was upping his three-ball reps over the last few seasons in SA. You know, just like all those other "mid-range players" who adapted and took more threes.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
What did you say about DeRozan never looking like an All-Star again? What did you say about DeRozan shouldn't be shooting threes?

:usure:

He's doing all that now in Chicago, and it's no coincidence, he looks better than ever.

This board is gonna have to have a dialogue about Pop sooner or later.
7 games... I'll rep you on all star weekend if this holds true

@Gil Scott-Heroin pop was overrated always had incredible personnel

Steve Kerr took a broken offense broken team with the exact same roster and became kind of unbeatable with limited talent outside of 2 players essentially. He’s just such a humble dude from his Jordan years that he goes unnoticed in his genius but he’s the best coach of the last 15-20 years. Nick nurse coming up too.

These are just some of the posts from SpursTalk after their recent loss:

"Pop costing himself another win with bad lineups."
"Frustrating watching another game you know SA could have won if Pop would quit playing re ed rotations"
"Goddamn I'm loving Pop as the coach of this team tbh. The TANK ROLLS ON!"
"A lob pass catch and shoot play with 2.7 seconds left? Either Pop has completely lost his mind or he’s tanking. I hope he’s tanking."
"If something doesn't change how we run this team after Popovich retires, we're gonna be the clippers for the next 30 years. This has to change. The players look like they're miserable and we coaching is terrible."
"Damn, even Jason Kidd out coaches Pop these days..."
"That's the beauty of it, he's not tanking at all. He's just literally one of the worst coaches in the league. He gets them motivated enough to play hard but is the worst in game coach in sports...."

"it‘s called small ball. The thing is you actually play small ball to outshoot the opponent. Somehow Pop has never understood that though. He plays small without the shooting, which basically turns it into a disadvantage"
"Pop's stupid lineups are the only thing I'm not enjoying from the team so far this season"

But I'll let nxggas on TheColi tell it, who don't even watch the Spurs play.

But but Kawhi is soft.

But but DeRozan is weak.

Overrated coach and franchise got lucky when then NBA handed that irrelevant franchise the #1 pick in 1997.

Now they're back where they belong and their bandwagon fans have no idea what to do. :heh:

Pop doesn’t know how to rebuild. He spent the past 2 decades winning championships. He will never leave the Spurs to coach a team ready to compete, so he should have retired a few seasons ago.
It’s actually quite sad.
Chipping away at his legacy year after year.

Pop's legacy is set in stone.

Nobody can take away from what he's done and accomplished, that stands on its own ground. However, that doesn't mean he has endless credit where what he's doing now can be excused away with him being one of the GOAT coaches. Similar to Phil Jackson's last years when he went out sad because the game left him behind; desperately trying to make the Triangle relevant again and taking a stand against the three-point shot.

It happens to every coach, but it seems this board thinks Pop is immune to that.
