Trust me when i say this that it was an overated expierence. I dunno what the hell everyone in this thread is bragging about.

As a kid you had to spend your hard earned money and take a gamble on an album not only with your money but also your time to discover a cd's overall wackness.

And then we had to swap out our cd's in our 3 disc or 6 disc cd changer boombox and deal with that bullshyt.

The invention of the mp3 and music going digital was the greatest thing to happen in my life ever being that i have extremely high standards when it comes to listening to hip hop.

One min I want to hear Game - Jesus piece. Now I want to hear Wiz and juicy j - in the plan. Now I want to hear TI's new album.
Ahhhh how about some classic nas next.:ahh:

You couldnt do all that before!!!

nikkas had me caught up in the nostalgia for a minute:laff: but that shyt absolutley wuznt better:salute:...I remember getting online to buy mixtapes, fuking mixtapes:snoop:...spending like 20% to buy like 3 of em,3 fukin clue mixtapes that would have a couple Stack Bundles songs,a coupld Fab songs, couple Budden songs and about 12 other nikkas I had no interest in hearing:mindblown:.

Hard to imagine I used to do that shyt lol...I supported all the artist I liked but I still do that now, maybe a couple slip thru the cracks if I hear horrible reviews and check it out for myself and realize its wack and won't cop....but I look back at my old cd's and realize 50 percent of it wuz just me buying nikkas who wuz gettin hype at the time who I wanted to see what the hype wuz about and got caught up in the moment....imagine buying every hyped up nikkas cd nowadays and id be mad as fuk 90% of the time.....I support the nikkas I like and everybody owe it to they favorites to do that....my must cops right now are only E-40,Jeezy,Jay(skipped on bp3 cuz I knew:sadbron:),T.I,and I got Future next time around I owe him one or 2 purchases all the free classics he put out.

Shame on y'all nikkas bein nostalgic in here on that bullshyt:laff: I bought Royce 5'9 first horrible cd,I bought Lil Troys cd off the strength of wanna be a baller only to realize Yungstar ain't Lil Troy:damn:

Besides classic/must-have albums, I only buy digipaks now
but i will never in my life download something from iTunes when I can get the physical

I remember I bought an album off of iTunes back in like '09 ... and it fukked up my collection 'cause I had the physical copy of every other cd from that artist. Haven't copped off of iTunes since.

buying cds was not overrated

you would listen to the album a lot more because you spend hard earned money on it. like if a album was wack you would still listen throught it 20 times before you threw it in the bushes

now you download, listen to the first 35 seconds of a song and skip if its wack. listen to it a few times and scroll on your ipod through the other 4000 songs. i find myself not finishing a lot of tracks because there is so many

That is true to a point. But lets be honest, 99% of the hip hop songs you like are ones that you like on the first listening anyway. The hell i look like trying to LEARN to like a song.

In addition, most of these albums and mixtapes only have 2-3 really good songs. The hell i look like listening to your whole album and trying to do homework and figure if i am going to like this or not.

Unless its a nas or jay or someone who actually has a proven track record, hell i aint giving your wack ass new rapper 3 min of my time. If you dont catch me in the first 30 seconds, NEXT!!!!!!

Thats why i personally think Kanye's music has went downhill in the past few years. This dude is getting bored and is forcing unneccasary funny ass intros and other bullshyt in music when in reality he needs to just drop a dope ass beat and kill it like he did on "theraflu" or even a "devil wears a new dress"

I think just blaze is one person who really understands that concept of catching the listener in the beginning and as a result of him having all those dope ass synthesizer and intros when the beat drops.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I bought CD's when there was no other alternative. Once I got a taste of napster I was :pacspit: to buying cd's in general. there were too many albums that dropped in the late 90's early 2000's where the hottest songs were the 2 or 3 singles that were released. 112 was notorious for that shyt. At least now you can actually sample every song before buying it but the ONLY time I will buy music is if I can't find it for free and its usually some obscure indie artist.

Some of my favorite albums are ones i diint care for on first listen.

Ehhh i agree to a certain degree. But if its good music then something will catch me that makes me go back to it

For instance, Kendrick Lamar's Section 80 threw me a little for a loop on the first listen, but something about it made me actually give it a shot and then proceeded to really like the album a lot.

very true, but Ive noticed the tracks that grow on me last much longer.

Everytime I would put a CD in and come across that track that had me like :damn: within the first 10 seconds of hearing it, I would find my self rewinding it 100x's before I finish the CD. A month later, Im now tired of the (still appreciating its greatness) song. God forbid that song gets picked as the next single them Im really tired of hearing it....ie. Forgot About Dre. I was tired of that song before it hit radio/Tv cuz I played it over a million times when I first got 2001.

Then I would eventually listen to the whole CD and those growers would have me like :whew: and they were the real lifeline of the CD.
