So you have 3 gm's currently in the organization (Cashman ,Brian Sabean & Omar Minaya ... 3 assistant Gm's in Aferman/Fishman & Naering
& they couldn't come up with a better solution for Left Field?
The issue is that Aaron Hicks still has 3 years left on his contract and moving him would almost definitely require the Yankees to eat most of that money.
The rumors were that the Yankees explored trades for Max Kepler and Bryan Reynolds but it didn't happen.
I'm somewhat of a believer in Kepler because even though his results have been lame, his contact has been good. I'm not sure if he's super unlucky or what.
Bryan Reynolds seems unlikely because he's going to be a free agent at the end of the season. I think he's a better player than Kepler, and the league probably does too. So even with the pending FA, Pittsburgh's asking price might be too high.
The only other name mentioned with the Yankees was Jurickson Profar...and that's a hard no.
