A lot of good stuff in here, but it's a lot more simple than that.

Just look up the jazz samples of your favorite MCs and then find the original songs & you make a playlist of jazz songs that you already know due to them being sampled, so you already have a familiarity.

Next, you just look into more music by the guys who make the songs you like

For Example

The best way to get into anything is to find it in it's most accessible form

Hip-Hop is the perfect primer.

WhoSampled is a great resource to find great jazz records sampled by Q-Tip, DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, Kanye, and everybody else.

Just go there and grab a bunch of tracks and explore them and the artists that made it.

You'll be into jazz in no time. :yeshrug:

This is actually a powerful post.

In the 70's and 80's Jazz Fusion started to kick and made everything more accessible to the ear. If you're totally not used to Jazz or even just music without words, I'd start here and with something like this. Grover, George Duke, Ahmad Jamal, and others can help tune your ear to basically listening to instruments LIKE they make words.

Then from there you can start diving deep into what interests you?

Like chaos and freedom of expression? Try Bebop
Like chill vibes and shyt to smoke to? Try Modal
Still want your stuff melodic and have a more pop style structure? Try Fusion and Smooth Jazz

Coltrane damn near did all of it so just picking an album of his and seeing what sticks will let you know what you actually like too. But to get what makes most Jazz GOOD? As in what makes this artist better than another one? You gotta know how to play. shyt Cory Henry is one of the most talented keyboardists out there and you'd never know because the shyt he does is so deeply engrained in technique that you can't hear all the "rules" he's breaking.

Why are they called the Jazz when they're based out of Salt Lake City? Ain't nothing but a bunch of cacs there. Should be named the Utah Soakers :scheme:

Drop some acid, curl up in a cold couch (preferably with an equally intoxicated and agreeable female) with a duvey, freshly washed skin and a bottle of water to share between the both of you and just fukkin', MELT. Brother.
If you want to get into Jazz, fukk with shyt that isn't directly jazz but influenced/inspired and then make your way towards the core genre.

They run most of their actions through Markkanen. There's not much more to it than that. Pick and roll with Kessler. Sometimes Kevin Love. It's pretty standard and they're not particularly successful with it. :yeshrug:
