Used to work at EB Games a long time ago, before Gamestopo bought them.

As a consumer you can never find a true deal at stores like these because anything under a certain profit margin we simply throw away instead of selling.
For example, if customer A brings us a game that we give him a quarter for, its not like we sell that game for 50 cents so the next person can play it. We put it in a box and its considered de-inventorized which means either we throw it away or mail it to corporate so they can throw it away. We only bought it for a quarter in the first place because removing older games from the market is pivotal in being able to charge an arm and a leg for new games.

And the games you are told are 'new' are not new unless they are in factory sealed boxes.
If you are given a game that needs to be put in its case, it insnt new. We used to play those games at closing, or take them home and bring them back the next day. Especially the DVDs once we started taking in movies.

There is a shytload of inventory at all times that technically we have in stock that is priced at $0.01 (a penny) that we don't stock and is just sitting in the back in a box waiting to be thrown away. I spent a dime one day and left with a madcats racing wheel (the big one with the foot pedals and shifter) an e-card reader... all types of stuff.

Those stores don't care about you. Anyone that works there that does is quickly out of a job.

I also had a story where I went to cop the latest Madden cuz I just copped an Xbox 360 & my boys wanted to have a tournament. This breh looked at me like :beli: "So you really want this game, you should get this(some random ass game) i'll put it back for you." :mindblown: I almost slapped this nikka. I told him to get me Madden and this nikka started sucking his teeth and shyt still with the :beli: face. It was some old school black dude too at Stonecrest Mall in Atlanta.

Another time an army recruiter was in there hassling my cousin while we were playing the new street fight :beli: "So you like to fight huh?"

They'll get reprimanded if they don't ask you all those stupid ass questions. Same as when you call the store and they always have to answer the phone the same way.
Its like people asking you if you want fries with that. They give no fukks about whether or not you actually want fries, they are just trying not to get fired.

They don't even care when you say "Hey man, I don't want shyt except this right here." cause all they need is the customer to give them a firm NO to let them stop having to push stupid shyt on you.

Thread got derailed into talking about how much Gamestop gives people for their shyt.

What is more mind boggling to me is that someone will actually go in and say "YES, GIVE ME A USED PS4 SO I CAN SAVE 10 DOLLARS"

I just can't picture anyone THAT hard up for a console and give up the original box and everything else that it comes in to save $10. It's not like the systems are hard to find anymore either.

You can sell the damn PS4 box on eBay for $20+ if you are THAT hard up for cash :wtfodom:

This right here used to erk me for yearrrrs. Why dont people keep up with their shyt. I still have Atari and NES games with the boxes, book and casing. All my PSX PS2 everything has the original boxs . It just never made sense how someone just doesnt have the cases. Even if you steal the game, steal the damn case too.

Most of those games without cases were stolen out of warehouses breh.

I've been down that road before. I had to talk with gamestop corporate because we suspected someone in the company was stealing games and dumping them somewhere. It was gamestop. Dude got too wild with it in where it was obvious, we just needed to track down where.

Women are not screened properly to work there.

I know at EB Games/Gamestop where I worked and also at Footlocker (where my old roomate worked) the policy was to keep an attractive female on staff despite her not knowing shyt about games/shoes. Guys would come into the store to be around them. Both stores kept them on register & phone because having them wander the floor as a sales associate would result in guys wasting their time asking questions with no interests in buying anything. Also interesting is that an attractive female at the register will mess your change count up because guys pay in larger bills than neccessary. They will have a 5 and pay with a 20 anyway, and by the end of the day you have no small bills left for change.

The attractive girl tactic is used by most companies in the world. It's just a fact of life and not exclusive to gamestop.

How many truly unattractive women you see in smaller stores in where she will have direct interaction with everyone who walks in?

SLIM

They are all working at Wal-Mart or working security.

:mjcry:just thinking about all those games thrown out has me feeling some type of way. I been trying to build up my dreamcast game collection and everybody wants an arm and a leg for games. Now I know these scumbag companies are throwing out gaming history.:pacspit:
