Used to work at EB Games a long time ago, before Gamestopo bought them.
As a consumer you can never find a true deal at stores like these because anything under a certain profit margin we simply throw away instead of selling.
For example, if customer A brings us a game that we give him a quarter for, its not like we sell that game for 50 cents so the next person can play it. We put it in a box and its considered de-inventorized which means either we throw it away or mail it to corporate so they can throw it away. We only bought it for a quarter in the first place because removing older games from the market is pivotal in being able to charge an arm and a leg for new games.
And the games you are told are 'new' are not new unless they are in factory sealed boxes.
If you are given a game that needs to be put in its case, it insnt new. We used to play those games at closing, or take them home and bring them back the next day. Especially the DVDs once we started taking in movies.
There is a shytload of inventory at all times that technically we have in stock that is priced at $0.01 (a penny) that we don't stock and is just sitting in the back in a box waiting to be thrown away. I spent a dime one day and left with a madcats racing wheel (the big one with the foot pedals and shifter) an e-card reader... all types of stuff.
Those stores don't care about you. Anyone that works there that does is quickly out of a job.

just thinking about all those games thrown out has me feeling some type of way. I been trying to build up my dreamcast game collection and everybody wants an arm and a leg for games. Now I know these scumbag companies are throwing out gaming history.
