IT is broad. You don't necessarily have to code to work from home. I wasn't working from home until the pandemic, and now we only go in once a week.

Stress is a MF. Sometimes I feel like saying F it all and just quitting. But then I realize I've been in situations that were just as stressful for way less money.
2014 - Call center - Hotel Tech Support. Was ratchet af. MFS fighting at work, managers getting caught in the bathroom with employees. . . It was a time. lol.
Learned a lot networking here.
2015 - Call Center - VOIP Support
More networking - moved to "Tier 2"
Mid 2016 - "NOC" technical at a startup VOIP company - more like high level tech support instead of a true NOC tech. Was 50% remote
More network support - had to learn linux. -
Mid 2018 (current company - Point of Sale Startup)
Started on HD - learned a lot but I got burned out - made some moves over the years and now I'm a manager on the implementations team. Still all remote unless I'm traveling to meet clients.
Once of the techs I hired for HD here just moved to QA and says it's cake compared to dealing with angry clients all day. He taught himself SQL, and more or less made friends with the QA manager and they hired him on.

Help desk is a good way to break into the industry if you have no certs. What I will say though is once you get in helpdesk, be looking to get out of there ASAP to something non client facing.

I make 38 n hour n i got about 5 years experience. What really got me this job was getting this book and saying the shyt from it in the interview lol.
