Co-sign this thread.................neo-soul fan, supported most of the artist mentioned in this thread, I ain't ashamed to say it I am a D'Angelo stan/fan to the end, Brown Sugar, Voodoo was absolutely fire and to be honest wasn't much touching them 2 albums. Still playing the shyt out of Black Messiah. Where is Bilal, Calvin Richardson, Maxwell's long overdue followup, Soulchild is rappin now???, R. Kelly needs to give us another Chocolate Factory album, and since Anthony Hamilton is fresh off the Christmas album we need a Charlene pt 2..........

well the artists themselves kinda helped in the death of the "neo-soul" movement by saying they were NOT "neo-soul". Most of them took offense to being labeled the term "neo-soul" and not just SOUL
I can respect their objection; I myself hate how fragmented rock music became with it's million sub-categories.l

most of the artists mentioned in the thread still are releasing music and videos. I watch VH1 Soul on the weekends and they do hour blocks of just videos from Ledisi, Goapele, Dwele, etc. Badu probably realized a few years ago that she has a big enough catalogue where she don't need to release a new album thats not going to sell anything but she can go on tour anytime she wants and do "Baduizm Live" and sell out. She's on tour now selling at $60 a ticket...
