I agree. my wife recently had an interview with a university here and she will have a PHd in a couple months (already has bachelors and masters) and despite being overqualified, they wasted her time cuz they already had internal candidates picked out in the first place. :pacspit:
They probably had to fulfill the Rooney Rule.

An interviewer can deny you the job for w.e reason but they can't fire you for doing a good job.

Moral of the story: You gotta do what you gotta do to get that and after (assuming you're a hard worker) you're golden.

Threads like this is why I fukk with The Coli. Sometimes I wonder if I am the only one that notices shyt like this or am I being paranoid. The latter may be slightly true but the game is rigged. Everyday I come to work, I feel like I'm walking on egg shells to not get fired and that's the reason I keep two jobs just in case some bs happens and I need to be able to support my family. People in my family think I'm just being greedy but there is a method to my madness.

I haven't had to use this game in a long time but it once worked wonders for me.

At the end of the interview, look at your interviewers in the eyes, give an academy award winning warm smile and tell them you really want to be on this team and help produce value to/for the company. Don't forget a closing firm, professional handshake!

S.P. soon got hired, went back to the homies on the block that i was hustling with and told them, flip this petty chit, i'm back in the big time(Fortune 500).

I tried legal entrepreneurship twice but it didn't take off for me. no shade to the successfully self-employed out there.

They can make up a reason to fire u or put u on a layoff list if ur company have random layoffs. Very few employees are perfect and just about every person I worked with could be written up or warned for something if u really look into it and give their actions some detailed attention. Like some may arrive to work 5-15 min late. Some may talk too much in halfway or at desk about non work related shyt like sports, shopping, food, politics, etc. Some may slack off. Some may be on phone too much. Some may take too long lunch breaks. It varies but those are some examples. Usually u can always find something.

And for most positions including executives and the president and CEO....if they pass away, retire or some mishap occur where they can't work...they will be replaced. Basically what I'm saying is we all are replaceable so don't think u can't get fired or laid off.

I can tell you rn everyone in my immediate family has had a job position they were under qualified for and was never fired. I see what you're getting at because I always talk with my team about new hires and sometimes my colleagues don't think they should be permanent because of irrational reasons. I will never let go of a worker if he or she is damn good at their job unless their character is some how detrimental to the team.

Yeah I get what u saying but don't think u or anyone else is irreplaceable. There may be certain positions which we essential but most jobs there are others who can do the work...especially if it's a support or admin position.

But I feel u...being good at ur job can help with security but nothing is guaranteed...especially with us being black (assuming u are). Also work ethic and professionalism intertwined with intelligence and excellent performance will put u low on any termination list.

I have disagree with the whole gay black guys get jobs. At least in my experience, the last interview I had was a group interview, anyway this black gay dude comes in, dressed conservative, but his voice (:francis:)

Faggy gay and just being extra with it. It was just too much.

Maybe 5 years ago, when gay was "in", gay brehs were eating I guess, but now it is like "Oh ok your gay, (we filled our gay quota a couple of years ago) what are your qualifications?"

there are lots of reasons why you may or may not get a job bro

some of them are not in your control

try to be introspective about the process...dont get down on yourself and move on to the next one
Great advice! Sometimes we be hard on ourselves about shyt when we be X'ed for shyt we can't help like skin color, race, looks, etc.

Like u say...on to da next one!
