A first past the post system always converges on 2 parties. A 3rd party will never be viable and voting for one helps the party furthest from you politically. Now, if we changed to rank choice voting, it would work, but the powers that be aren't going to allow that.

What would you constitute as a cycle? We just had a republican president. The republicans now control the house. They now also have the majority of the Supreme Court for the foreseeable future. All of which are more disastrous to us than trying to teach the Democrats some imaginary lesson. Not voting doesn't prove anything and doesn't teach anyone a lesson. Also love how y'all conveniently ignore that its the same thing for most republican voters, they don't gain a damn thing from voting republican but they do it anyway. Do you ever hear them talking about not voting to teach them a lesson?
