But how did that help the collective of Black people?
Jay z voice: Good question right?
But how did that help the collective of Black people?
Not saying it helped, actually the opposite. The glorification of the negative shyt is what made hip hop really pop off. People like Run DMC, LL, and Hammer were popular, but Death Row and Bad Boy, took that shyt to whole nother level, then BIG and Pac died, and the flashy era rolled in, shyt was up for grabs after that. But how did that help the collective of Black people?
I have a lot of respect for Cube. I respect his right to grow, mature, evolve, and change his perspective/opinion.
Thing I wanted to say is...Cube always had songs where he shows you the downside of criminal activity. He goes to jail at the end of "Summer Vacation" and "Amerikkka's Most wanted". He dies at the end of "Alive on Arrival" etc. So while one can say he "glorified" crime, he also made it clear that a criminal lifestyle has serious consequences.
of all people. Some of yall coming off like you've never listened to a Cube album. 90% of these rappers wouldn't have the balls to make some of songs he made then and now.

No lies told.
Or the mf lives in a white gated community and isn't around that gangster shyt no more, and he matured and changed his thought process about gang banging and life?Looks like global warming has got to Ice Cube and changed him into Slightly Chilled Water now
probably went down the youtube/facebook alt right pipeline like all people like him that turned c00n or maybe he was cb4 the whole time. probably a little both.
Somebody made this post years ago about how Cube basically switches his brand every couple years to maintain his relevance. I wish I could find it because as much as I hate to say it, that post is aging like wine.
