Bun-B: "I was barely a B.G. in the game when this man got on the mic, and this is one of the brothers that inspired me to do what i do today... in my humble opinion, the greatest battle rapper ever... (K-Rino) is my O.G."... @ 10:30

Scarface on K-Rino's lyrical prowess:

DX: You gonna have Eminem put some verses to them beats?
Scarface: Hell nah! [Laughs] I’m not fin to go in there fukkin’ with that white boy, man. [Laughs]

DX: You’re not gonna make the “Renegade”

mistake.
Scarface: Hell nah! What the fukk you mean, go in there fukkin’ with him, for what? [Laughs] But I guess that’s how I feel about – I guess that’s how a lot of rappers feel about this kid from out here named K-Rino.

DX: I heard you biggin’ him up again on Dopeman Music, on like one of the skits.
Scarface: Yeah like, you just don’t – It’s two people in music that you just don’t fukk with, there are two people in Rap that I just don’t fukk with: I’m not fukkin’ with Eminem, and I’m not fukkin’ with K-Rino. I invited K-Rino to do a verse on my album because a lot of people don’t wanna fukk with him, ‘cause he’s a dangerous muthafukka… I think he really took it light on me too.

DX: That’s saying something, that’s a hell of an endorsement to say that he’s got you when it comes to the H-Town hierarchy.
Scarface: Man, that muthafukka is the truth.

DX: I don’t know why it never happened for him…
Scarface: I think that it had a lot to do with…the way he felt about being affiliated with a major, or an indie-major… I don’t think he wanted to be a part of that fukkin’ machine. He didn’t wanna be…on that ship, that slave ship.

It was actually in the video you posted. It was Killer Mike's part, prior to what he said they asked him who he would put in the top 25 that they missed out.

Top 25 is an egregiously low ranking. :dwillhuh:

Anything outside top 3 at the barest minimum is wholly unacceptable.

Face basically puts him in the upper echelon of elite lyricists. Even above himself. :leon:

That shoooooo is alot of praise from alot of highly respected individuals for a supposed nobody, huh? :sas1:

@The Ruler 09 Who is your top 5 or 10 mc going strictly off of lyricism......would k-rhino be first?

Strictly off lyricism? I haven't really got a defined list but I'll give it a go. In no order.

K-Rino would be number one though yes, what I like is his ability to connect deeply lyrically on a number of different levels. He has emotional deep music that can really deeply touch your heart and soul, that takes a lot of lyrical talent. There's many types of lyricism. He also has some of the amazing super lyrical type stuff, or punchline stuff that is crazy. He's just the highest level artist lyrically I've ever heard I think. Amazes me sometimes.

Big Pun would be on the list high, again for similar reasons, Pun could make songs I fukked with but he kept it lyrical, his multi flow, and the amount he rhymed was crazy, and he was syaing potent shyt while he was doing it. I like lyricists where their multies seem effortless, cause really most people ain't noticing that unless your an MC or a big Hip Hop head or lyric junkie, Pun's shyt was crazy lyrically.

Phaorohe Monch I rate highly on a lyrical level, remember something Kool Moe Dee said about how sometimes he would triple up on a metaphor, he's got ill wordplay, he's just an ill lyricist.

Canibus would be on a list I think, some of his work on Melatonin Magik for nstance I thought was exceptional lyrically, I've also heard some Canibus shyt a lot of people aren't pirvy too, he's a beast , the orginal C Of Tranquillity, the places he's going to lyrically are fukking insane lol.

Rakim is amazing lyrically, he is saying so much and says it inn such an ill way, he's one of the greatest to me, to this day like his new shyt, is lyrically off the chart.

Ras Kass, particularly something like a Soul On Ice album, was complex, lyrical, content, solid vocabularly usage.

One of if not the greatest lyricists I've heard is an underground rapper I've heard but he needs some albums so I don't wanna mention him until he's really recoded his shyt, cause you need material to stake a claim, recorded material really.

2 Pac, it may sound like an odd choice as he's not regarded as a amazing lyricist by some people, but it comes back to what I said, the effortlessness, Pac had techniques but they wernt under the radar, you have to be highly effective to touch people in the way he did, he is the most loved rapper for a reason.

Big Daddy Kane, great rhymer, I liked how he would have the rapid fire rhymes, rhyme after rhyme and also the vocabularly usage one after the other. He's a beast, still spittin crazy today too.

Kool Moe Dee, one of my favourite battle MC's too, and a pioneer lyrically. There are Moe Dee joints that I really feel hold up strongly. He's a lyricist I highly respect.

Kool G Rap was crazy with the multies and had a great vocab, still does, he's very lyrical. I fukk with G's shyt.

I might have to go a little over 10 sorry lol.

I have to say Chino XL would make a list, on point Chino is just fukking crazy, the rhymes are insane. That Ricanstruction album I found very enjoyable and felt he was beasting on the lyrics.

Will condense a few others I rate lyrically, Biggie, Nas, shyt I missed AZ lol. This is why this is so hard lol. Reasonable Doubt Jay Z. Elements of Common I respect lyrically a lot, some of the Ressurection rhymes, and I also personally loved all the wordplay on Can I Borrow A Dollar. Immortal Technique I think is an exceptional lyricist, I'd also give Lowkey a nod. I like Comega's poeticness. Talking of that Melle Mel, I think he's a great lyricist, because he did powerful shyt, has some amazing classic all time verses. Big L was a very dope lyricist. As was Last Emperor. Crooked I ill. My bad though, I deviated lol.

I'll try name 10 in no order if I had to pick if pushed.

1: K-Rino
2: Big Pun
3: Canibus
4: Chino XL
5: Pharohe Monch
6: Ras Kass
7: 2 Pac
8: Rakim
9: Big Daddy Kane
10: AZ

But I'd have to really think, cause I've probably forgot lots of poeple and also there's people I feel should really be on there I think I've left out, but I wanted to try answer the question , try to anyway lol.

I don't think he was saying he would be 25th. He was saying he would be SOMEWHERE in his top 25, could be 1st or whatever. To me I have K as number 1 from the south, with Face and Z-Ro up there too.

That nikka is as basic as it comes. Never heard no one talk about em outside the net either... then all of a sudden nikkaz here talmbout this nikka is a GOAT candidate :bryan:

LOL I don't get why people act like P is some amazing lyricist. That was never his strong point.
