The alternative to getting a White Supremacist elected and then trying to "work with" him when he has zero incentive? How about working to make sure that White Supremacist doesn't get elected? How about working to make sure that he has as little power as possible by fighting to ensure he has big losses in the Senate and House? You think any white people( dem/ Repub) really want black folks to come up? No president regardless of party is ending or challenging white supremacy.. Obama didnt even try and that was our best hope. Whats the alternative to not at least attempting to work with the president in power? What are you going to do if Trump gets another 4 years? You want folks to vote and believe in the system when what you are saying is you don't believe in the system yourself. You are no better than the don't vote crowd.
You're ignoring that the results were weak as fukk. The bill was supposed to be just the first step and they still made it more than half as weak as the original First Step Bill, then followed it up with nothing.honestly who cares. Trump didnt have to sign it. business aint personal.. who cares what his motivation was. The only thing that matters is whether some black folks got helped by it. and they did. You are worried more about optics than results.
You have a choice - you can either fight for ones who will make criminal justice reform bills weaker or fight for the ones who will make them stronger. Which do you want?
That was his FIRST TERM, when he still had an election coming up, and he was listening to Kuschner. If he wins this next election he'll be in his SECOND TERM and have no incentive to keep trying, especially when he's already said that he ain't gonna listen to Kuschner anymore. Do you see the difference or not?And you contradicted yourself by saying trump did for black support. Your admitting trump gave in to black folks demands by signing the act and did something for black people when you just said in your first paragraph trump has no reason to listen to black people at all. I guess he does care about black support after all.
