We don't learn about slavery to make ourselves feel less than white people. Understanding history is crucial in understanding why things are the way that they are. Try explaining how America came to be without mentioning slavery. It just wouldn't be possible. Kids would be left with more questions than answers.
Knowing this history should actually do the opposite of what you're suggesting. Kids would be inspired to want to be all that they can be for their ancestors who werent allowed the same chances.
And if we don't educate people on the atrocities committed by this country, don't think for a second that the white supremacists will forget

However, I do think American school need to do a better job of teaching black history. They need to go into more detail on stuff about reconstruction and the Harlem Renaissance, and not the cliff notes verison we usually get. African kingdoms also need the same attention as the Sumerians, Greeks, and Romans.
We know about 400 years of slavery. There were white slaves in Africa. Every country have slavery.. It actually means nothing to me because people have been here for millions of years and we only know about a couple hundred.

I think it’s because Cube kept posting about it during all of the social unrest we’ve seen the past few months along with the election. For this to happen you need real leaders who are familiar with this, not a celebrity like Ice Cube.
