Ice Cube's War & Peace series gets unwarranted levels of criticism

Ice Cube's run from '88-'96 was GOAT.
I even like most of his later projects, solo and group projects ( Terrorist Threats, Laugh Now Cry Later, Raw Footage ).
Top 5 rapper for me.

Music changed on ice cube. His style was fading out & non-conscious lyrics was becoming normal.He tried to do both styles with lethal injection by bow down he switched. If it was released earlier it would be a classic.

So he failed to adapt to the times you think? Suffered from an outdated style?

It seemed unfocused and Cube trying a new style. Beats were not west coast sounding at all. Short Khop was wack as fukk. Hello was a NWA tune. Ghetto Vet was dope. If both albums had been boiled down to 1 CD it would have been better.

Sounded Southern for some parts of it, especially Vol. 1. And even on later albums in the 2000s Cube had some Southern sound he incorporated more into his albums. But Cube hasn't always had prototypical West Coast sound even early on (think AMW).

I've always had a rough time getting over the production on Death Certificate.
That's why it sits at #3 for me right now.
Lyrically it's another story though.

AMW just recently passed The Predator, which had been my favorite Cube album for about a year or so.
