Watching this Italy-England game, there's definitely some ways the game could improve in my humble opinion:

1) the biggest thing I see, is that player speed is negated by offsides. Especially Balotelli, a lot of times I saw he wanted to bust open, but he just stood around waiting for the players to get back. I think that you shouldn't allow players to just "cherrypick", by cherrypick I mean just hanging out in front of the other team's goal, but once the ball changes possession, players should be allowed to run. It would allow a "fast break" ala basketball, and open up the game a bit more I think.

2) Some physicality should be allowed. I think it would be cool if you could lead with the shoulders when trying to take someone off the ball.

3) It would be cool if the penalty kicks were one on one defensive player vs offensive player, as opposed to just kicking it. It's almost an 80% chance the penalty goes in, I think if the offensive player had to beat a defensive player one on one, it would be more interesting.

Just a few thoughts from Yankee, let me know your opinions.

it's allowed. This isn't rugby or american football.

none of these changes will ever happen. You either like the sport or you don't. Sorry.

Not serious about the spelling error (:snoop:), but I am serious about the physically. Anytime time shoulders or shins touch there's play stoppage. I think if you could shoulder bump a player off the ball like football or hockey, it would make it much more exciting.

So because Americans don't think soccer is exciting enough they should change around the sport that the REST OF THE WORLD is fine with? :wtf: are you serious?

If they told you a goal was worth 6 points, everyone would watch even though nothing about the actual game would change.

You do realize they added the forward pass to american football to make it more exciting, right? Could you imagine running the Packer sweep all day :scusthov: Sometimes a tweak or two to an original idea is good.

Just watched the Eng/Italy game and was entertained...altho mostly because our boy Swagotelli is still in it.

The only thing thats going to make Americans care is WINNING....more than that a pattern of excellence. Gonna be a long time coming.:to:

I'm sure some of these changes would catch on fast. Some of the rules allow players to be less athletic than they should for this type of sport. If they had fastbreaks in soccer sh*t would be insane :gladbron:
