I am fascinated by how so many of our people will acknowledge that mainstream media has played a major part in our social conditioning but perceive rap as an exception. It makes no sense. Listening to ANYTHING reptitively will have an effect on your sub conscious and trap rap is no exception. Its unfortunatr that this music has extremely self destructive messages.
Countering the effect this music (which is social conditioning whether you acknowledge it or not) has on the minds of our children will be one of our peoples greatest challenges.

I agree to a point, a lot of guys hear trap and then try to emulate the lifestyle, because their favorite rapper "lives that way," I see it everyday. But I think level of intelligence has a lot to do with it also, there are people that listen to trap for entertainment and take it at surface level and there are also guys who attempt to live the lifestyle

Yup. These people usually lack direction to begin with

Modern-day popular, mainstream rap is directly aimed at young, impressionable black minds in order to help fulfill the quotas of the Prison Industrial Complex (aka modern-day slavery)

and also to keep us in the mindstate that THEY want us in (dumbed down. unintelligent, materialistic, not trusting each other, etc)

and more importantly, its being used as a form of "media propaganda" to broadcast the most negative stereotypes of the black race to a worldwide audience.

The fact that so many of you supposed "black" posters are angry and offended by what he said, tells me that you all are completely blind to past history and the tactics of white supremacy.

Study the past (blackface/Minstrel Shows, etc) and today's hip-hop will start to make sense.

The white man WANTS you to think its "just entertainment" and judging by the responses in this thread so far....it's working.

This

When it suits them media is influential and when it doesn't it isn't

Keep lying to yaself...

This ignant music has made being ignant acceptable through it's influence in popular culture.

That is clear as day. Anyone in denial of this knows the truth they just won't accept it. Let's keep pretending were gonna move ahead while trap music is the current soundtrack to life.

The sleepless city
If your from that kind of environment, that music CAN have a detrimental effect on you... if you live in the quiet burbs or, seperated from that life it will be less of an effect....

Its not rocket science...
No one is saying we're all mindless drones.....

just look through our music history and see how it shaped us... Or maybe the changing world shaped the music...
:jbhmm:

Either way as an adult you should be able to look at something with different perspectives instead of one myopic view....
