If an NBA player doesn't win a ring, should you not enjoy watching him?

not only should you not enjoy watching them, you shouldn't give them credit for ANYTHING, ever.

oh, he averaged 24/13? so what? he doesn't have a ring. dropped 50 and scored a game-winner? and? where's his ring at? just missed a quadruple-double? dude's ringless, big fukking deal.

The championshop thing is purely about legacy building and where players rank among the all time greats, and is only a standard the very best of the best are held to at all...I don't think a soul on earth has used rings as a barometer of how entertaining a player was to watch :dwillhuh: ...I enjoy watching Jamal Crawford and ZBo play, don't think "rings" have come into discussion in the least bit...don't really understand the premise

A ring shouldn't mean shyt to your sports enjoyment. It means something to the players....but what am I watching sports for? Should I not find entertainment in an athlete because he may not win a ring?

It doesn't mean shyt to ME personally, but I know some folks who will not validate any player having a great season (or even game) unless the ring is there or the player is incredible (Rose, CP3) or very young (Irving, Davis).

='FreedS[ohh]lave;3468095']I have more of a problem with comapring everyone to a Jordan and if they arent the best player who ever lived their somwhow a failure

Basketballs the only sport where the best player has the most control over the outcome so judging players by rings doesnt really bother me compared to say football where theyres so many variables into winnign a title

But i see your point
Soccer? Hockey?

Dog.....read this tweet by Bloomberg Sports
@BSport: Steph Curry's performance was great, but it doesn't compare to two magical Michael Jordan games in losses: http://bit.ly/15llCst

Dude.....there's always some self created bar people are trying to force on us to not appreciate something.

It's annoying.

No, you should still enjoy watching them play if they are great talents.

Like, I love watching the old Charles Barkley games, or even a Dan Marino game, to use the biggest examples of great talents that never won it all. Its kind of sad that some people cant appreciate a players abilities and what theyve done for the game if that player didnt get a ring. Its a mentality that a lot of ppl seem to fall into here but if you appreciate sport, you will appreciate a great athlete and watch them regardless of rings/championships. Cus if you dont, then youre just missing out in my eyes:manny:

edit:

Soccer? Hockey?

soccer is probably the worst example you couldve used in response to that lol

Yes... and unfortunately no.

Because the NBA is dominated by superstars, some fans of these superstars will form arguments to down fans of other players strictly by the ring talk. Not necessarily a Jordan/Kobe thing (which people do use that argument a LOT with), but more with players playing against each other. Ever since Bron got his ring, a lot of his fans clown Melo, Howard, etc. for not winning one. Hell, some are starting to even clown Durant a bit.

Hate it or love it, not having a ring is important to those who like their players because they DO win rings. The haves and have-nots. :manny:

I thought I was the only one who noticed this:heh:

it became a lot less fun when bron got his, nothing like trolling a bron stan

but it's all garnered up media bullshyt. sports writers and espn really do ruin the minds of sports fans. and the funniest thing about it is in the NBA on 10 squads have won a ship and it's even smaller since 2000. it's only like 5 :heh: so if youre not on one of those teams you aren't getting shyt. making this silly ring argument even dumber

Seriously.....these artificial bars people create for greatness, as if one can't appreciate the greatness of a player we're watching because he may retire without a ring.

Why are we allowing "the ring" argument to cloud our appreciation for great players?

It's annoying as fukk. It's as if its a crime to enjoy watching a player unless he has a ring.

Do niqqas enjoy sports anymore?

Because a player isn't actually "great" until they win a ring. :mjpls: :troll:
