How do you think Gilbert's career would have played out if he never go hurt. Obviously the Wiz wouldnt have been sorry enough to draft Wall but would they have made it to contender status or would they have traded Gilbert by now. The dude had his faults but he could put the ball in the basket at an elite level like not many others. So where would he be at now in his careers without the knee injuries.

He was great at getting to the basket but he wasn't a particularly good shooter.
An injury was bound to happen to him some way or another.

Still, he was effectively finished at like 28 and that was young.
With a bit more luck, you gotta think he plays at least through 32 years old..maybe a bit more.

He was a dominant player in '06, so if he kept that up for a few more years I'm sure we'd be talking about him like a legend of his era.

If Arenas never got hurt and kept up his level of play but retired already all of these analytics stat nerds would try to shyt on his legacy the way they did Iverson and are trying to do to Kobe now.

Gil was favored by analytics though. Very efficient scorer in his peak & his impact was on the Wiz offense was measurably elite.

Would've put up HOF numbers without getting in. A PRIME Gilbert hung 60 points on PRIME Kobe and the Lakers back in '06. It was in OT, but never the less.
I remember that performance like it was yesterday. Kobe actually had the gall to say that Gilbert had no conscious out there with the way he was putting up shots.

at that time pass first pgs were the wave..everyone described gil as an undersized shooting guard..

Dude was a joy to watch. could put up 30 like it was nothing, also he did those ridiculous jumpers from long range like curry does. In some ways he was curry before curry
