maybe not lil cease status but you get the point :mjlol:
look, i like reasonable doubt, bp, tba and ag. rd is of my favorites hip hop albums that has gotten better w/ time
but let's not act like jay z won't a poor man's version of biggie (and for the record, i like jay z)
biggie was jay's blueprint. everythin' biggie did, jay has followed suit and did when it comes to the music
anytime a man quotes another man every since album since 2nd album (vol. 1) it speaks volume

when big was here, there was no room for jay to spread his wings
big had the game on lock, especially as far as the east coast went with solo artist (competition bein' nas)
no jay z album comes close to ready to die
no jay z album comes close to life after death
even on jay's best day with rd, bp and tba, he pales in comarison to biggie's monumental albums
i know a bunch of stans will come in here and say this or that but i'm sorry, facts is facts
i say this as a jay z FAN but jay z was able take over the game due to both big and pac's passin'
jay z is a poor man's or diet coke version of biggie
jay z can fool the generation of fans who know of him from blueprint and on but not us old heads
biggie was the true king of new york; frank white :mjcry:

where my fellow old heads at who know what's up at? :obama:

Yes someone who sells half a million independently when Big did 1.5 over a longer period on a major with huge singles wouldn't be anything. That doesn't even make sense. Jay-z has flourished when Big, DMX, 50, Eminem, Jeezy, Game, Nelly, Drake and anyone has been out.

You might forget this but there was several big rappers around the time Big was around, as long as you had hits, skills and was a likable cat you could move units.

y'all can talk this shyt all day long NOW but nikkas in the know, know. real nikkas know :sas1:
sure, jay was an independent business man but the roc won't movin' units like that
jay won't the man back then
biggie and bad boy ran shyt on the east coast in a way that jay would later super suceed that success due to lack of competition and times changin'; hip hop grew even more as a business with time and growth
but best believe, it was changin' even more when big's life after death dropped and biggie would've continued to have the game in a chokehold
jay would've been robin to big's batman
shyt, even irv admitted that jay ran and used biggie's formula after big passed
y'all gon act like jay z ain't run and try to hop on bad boy's dikk and use biggie's formula? "i know what girls like", "always be my sunshine". shyt had puff's shiny suit on it
life after death is jay z's real "blueprint" for his whole career :sas2:

why can't some of y'all take shyt at face value instead of just 1 starrin' threads
if you old enough to remember stuff like this?
if you ain't old enough, then i get it
but the level of maturity around here is sometimes is unbelievable

and for the record, all you gotta do is go back and listen to big's 1st 2 albums and then go listen to jay's
you tell me who better? you tell me who the fukkin' man is still to this day

biggie is the hendrix of hip hop when it come to mcin'

i don't give a fukk what none of y'all lil nikkas gotta say

Tired of this logic. Jay is way too talented for Biggie's presence to undermine his success. You're telling me that Hard Knock Life wouldn't have been a hit if Biggie was around? Song Cry? 99 problems? Big Pimpin? Public Service Announcement? Shut the fukk up with this dumb shyt already.

It always annoys me when people try to act like Big and Pac were the only people selling albums back then. Like you said, if you had skills and could make hits you had a chance of being successful. Big being alive wouldn't have kept Jay from being a star.

Thier is some TRUTH to what @stomachlines is saying

The whole hit making formula that BIG got from pac is what JAY Z followed

Prior to his link with BIG ...jay z hook game was weak

Lyrics were hard..but his song structure was subpar

thank you, i'm glad somebody who's old enough to remember and who is not a stan of either artists but possibly a fan(?) of the both of these guys is kickin' knowledge
i'm tired of these young nikkas talkin' bullshyt who won't even wet behind the ears let alone born when a lot this shyt was poppin'
