It's funny cause BTNH sold more than both Pac and Big, so did The Fugees.
Then we got the people that didn't quite do AEOM numbers but still did up towards 2-3 mill which was more or the same numbers as R2D and MATW had done at the time, like Outkast, Nas, Snoop, Coolio, Lil Kim, LL Cool j and I'm probably forgetting some cats.

And it's usually the same cats calling others "young" that don't agree with their ridiculous opinion :stopitslime:

If you were really into rap then, as I was, you should know better. :martin:

IWW wasnt a strictly shallow coke hustling LP like reasonable doubt nd ready to die

:snoop:ya'll always on some bullshyt.

big was one of the greatest
jay is one of the greatest

theres room for two.

there is room for both but to front and act like jay was the man when biggie was here is blasphemous my nikka! :damn:
jay even with all of his success and acclaim, has never been the great artist that biggie was :francis:
and again, i like jay z. but i call shyt for what it is :yeshrug:

y'all can talk this shyt all day long NOW but nikkas in the know, know. real nikkas know :sas1:
sure, jay was an independent business man but the roc won't movin' units like that
jay won't the man back then
biggie and bad boy ran shyt on the east coast in a way that jay would later super suceed that success due to lack of competition and times changin'; hip hop grew even more as a business with time and growth
but best believe, it was changin' even more when big's life after death dropped and biggie would've continued to have the game in a chokehold
jay would've been robin to big's batman
shyt, even irv admitted that jay ran and used biggie's formula after big passed
y'all gon act like jay z ain't run and try to hop on bad boy's dikk and use biggie's formula? "i know what girls like", "always be my sunshine". shyt had puff's shiny suit on it
life after death is jay z's real "blueprint" for his whole career :sas2:

I always give Jay his due because he's an incredible emcee but Big's death opened doors & lanes for many artists from all around to eat if we wanna be real. Jay & Puff took Big's ideas & were successful so I have no doubt Big would be where Jay is had he lived.

If anything Jay Z help Biggie legacy imo. If Jay just kept his respect limited to the "city's is mine" track. I can imagine the hate he would have received for not Bigging Biggie up once he blew up in 98'. And to keep it 100. BIG went from corner boy, broke boy, & wanting to die on his debut, to a coke talking, mob boss, flashy cat. To me it looked like RD influenced LAD a bit.

Thier is some TRUTH to what @stomachlines is saying

The whole hit making formula that BIG got from pac is what JAY Z followed

Prior to his link with BIG ...jay z hook game was weak

Lyrics were hard..but his song structure was subpar

Come on fam don't start that. Pac might've gave him tidbits about the rap game but Puff was the one instrumental in getting him to make radio friendly songs

every other rapper went crazy went away or got played under puff including the lox....what makes biggie different? if anything eventually he would have dikked him too.. jayz wasnt directly connected to biggie in any way that would have stopped his career arc. including business decisions he made later so i dont see it

Because Puff saw Big as an equal whereas he didn't feel that way towards his other artists.
