Jayz was destined to be az whether his stans admit or not :yeshrug:

he dropped his best album, had a classic single and barely touched gold :yeshrug:

And it's note even so much about the sales, jayZ overall was just a afterthought

The comission album would have further solidified him as biggies little nikka

Not to mention how badly pac was on his ass

He directly benefited from both of them dying and Nas taking a break from solo albums. He also ran with the "me and biggie were bestfriends and he's giving me his throne" gimmick. Smart business man, but he benefitted badly. It is what it is

me
maybe not lil cease status but you get the point :mjlol:
look, i like reasonable doubt, bp, tba and ag. rd is of my favorites hip hop albums that has gotten better w/ time
but let's not act like jay z won't a poor man's version of biggie (and for the record, i like jay z)
biggie was jay's blueprint. everythin' biggie did, jay has followed suit and did when it comes to the music
anytime a man quotes another man every since album since 2nd album (vol. 1) it speaks volume

when big was here, there was no room for jay to spread his wings
big had the game on lock, especially as far as the east coast went with solo artist (competition bein' nas)
no jay z album comes close to ready to die
no jay z album comes close to life after death
even on jay's best day with rd, bp and tba, he pales in comarison to biggie's monumental albums
i know a bunch of stans will come in here and say this or that but i'm sorry, facts is facts
i say this as a jay z FAN but jay z was able take over the game due to both big and pac's passin'
jay z is a poor man's or diet coke version of biggie
jay z can fool the generation of fans who know of him from blueprint and on but not us old heads
biggie was the true king of new york; frank white :mjcry:

where my fellow old heads at who know what's up at? :obama:
i fully endorse this post. biggie the goat

I'm an old head, and I understand what you're trying to say, but maybe you're overlooking some of the business aspects of being a music star.
Jay-Z's business mind, networking skills, ability to learn and adapt etc. would have made him a force to be reckoned with no matter what.

Let's remember, Biggie was excited about partnering up and working with Jay. Big was already a star when Jay became known to us, but he didn't try to bring Jay in UNDER him. He was going to partner up with him and do business. Jay already had a certain level of clout within industry circles before we even heard Reasonable Doubt.

I'm going to make a comparison that has NOTHING to do with talent, and everything to do with all the other stuff it takes to make it.

Remember when French Montana was running around with Max B, trying to figure out how to do this music thing?

Now French is a rich rap star, simply because he watches, learns, networks, etc.

People tried to claim French wouldn't be hot without Max, but French was going to pick up the game regardless, with or without Max. For whatever reason, after Max got locked up the biggest stars in the game allowed French to be around them, and he soaked up game. Some people just know how to move.

When Jay popped up with Rocafella, he had much more clout in the industry than French did. He also doesn't have a lot of questionable moves in his past like French does. So if he's on par or better than French networking wise, plus he's more talented, and has a less questionable past, what makes you think he wasn't going to blow eventually?

If he wasn't aligned with Big it would have just been somebody else who was popping, and he would have adapted. That's what the beef with Nas was about really.... he wanted to network with Nas and soak up game. Nas wasn't fukking with him, and Jay took it a little too personal because he was getting cosigns from everyone else.

bruh, come on now. you and i both know how huge and big of talent biggie was.
jay is good but biggie was great
biggie had shyt on LOCK
and if he would not have died, i don't think shyt would've change that anytime soon with life after death bein' the masterpiece it is and his victory verse
when big was here, jay won't holdin' no candle to his greatness. it was only after big was gone that jay begin to find his way
jay had a lane that was his for takin' with big bein' gone and that annie sample
i ain't tryin' to argue but i'm only callin' shyt for what it is

Yep....It was like Shaq(Big) died and Patrick Ewing(Jay) took his place

Ewing's no slouch, but he ain't Shaq:francis:

And now niccaz put Jay over Big because of "longevity"..."accolades"..etc..etc.

Just imagine if Shaq would've died in '96, right before he signed with the Lakers.

The Lake show signed Ewing instead, he went on to play 6-7 more years, win a couple of rings, few all star games etc...etc..

And now niccaz saying he's better than Shaq because his resume>>>>>>>The Big Aristotle's

Ya know, politics.

When those who were around to see Shaq know for a fact that he was wayyyy more talented

Probably in terms of rapping. But why would Jay Z give a shyt when Big more than likely wasn't a fraction the business man Jay is

Jay was going to be jay regardless

Big couldn't stop jay from hearing that Annie sample and lacing it wit some ill ass streets lyrics that touched based wit the everybody. Dude had hits out the ass on vol.2.

If anything what would have him was if he was still working wit baby boy in 98 instead of leaving they ass in the dust like he did and went back to the street production.

Regardless jay>>>>biggie

Thats APPLES and ORANGES breh :camby:

NAS and BIG were in different lanes

But JAY definitely was in the same lane as that COKE RAP field that BIG dominated

That's the point. Jay and big would have been 2 alligators in the same pool. Jay would not have been able to outshine BIG.
