As for the message behind the event,Abrams for Governor campaign press secretary Jaylen Black said Black men are an important component of her candidate’s vision for “one Georgia.”
“Stacey values creating space for Black men to express their unique concerns and sharing her comprehensive plans that will ensure that Black men in Georgia have the opportunity to thrive,” Black said.
Listen fellas, feeling unlistened to is absolutely fair but you gotta also respect the political game in 2022.
1. We're outnumbered (Stacy has pointed this out, we all know it) so politicians naturally cater directly to us less.
2. More importantly - there are
many that will vote against a politician that DOES cater to us directly. You know it, I know it. Cacs get mad, other races get mad, they hate us and always have hated us. Combine that with us being outnumbered and a politician that wants to serve us is better off moving smartly and silently with it.
3.
Republicacs blame us for all the social ills in America, promote their own (white) supremacy, and push forth unsustainable policies/practices that make society overall worse. Look at red states vs blue states. I need y'all to remember what happened to a certain population in Germany several decades ago that had this unique mixture of delusional supremacy and blaming minorities for problems going on.
4.
A policy does not have to literally list "black men" to benefit us. Policies that tackle low incomes, policies that tackle the school-to-prison pipeline, gun violence,
voting rights and access (
which republicans are fighting against and Stacy Abrams is particularly noteworthy for fighting for) etc. are beneficial to us and beneficial to everyone.
5. Republicacs regularly invade online spaces like this to push voter apathy in black men to dissuade our voting for our best interests. Even if you somehow think TheColi is immune to this - think, why exactly do they go through the effort? The don't want us voting for people like Stacy.
Even if you think she hasn't done enough, she's actively clearing the path for you to vote for someone better. Kemp and republicans would you rather you not be able to vote at all, and repeatedly gerrymander and cheat to try to ensure it.
Like, real talk... it doesn't make sense not to vote for Stacy. If we take our rights for granted in the face of the white supremacist cacs, those rights will soon stop being granted.
