North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Cy Young played when the rules were not only different but the level of competition was A ball status. He pitched his entire career in an all white dead ball era. His 511 wins should not apply to none today, yet "he still holds the record". This is why I can't take baseball seriously. Their game has changed so much that you can't compare stats from one generation or era to the next. Babe Ruth is the same way. He came up right after the dead ball era when teams and players were still adjusting. Pitchers were used to throwing strike for so long because they never had to worry about nikkas hitting home runs. Hitting was so bad that the corked the balls :mindblown:

you can't take the game seriously because it's old? or because it's evolved over a century-plus? or what? you don't like when people hit spheres with cylinders? i'm so lost breh :mindblown:

maybe you shouldn't invest so much energy in stats and records and just enjoy sports instead :lupe:

The nadir of the dead-ball era was around 1907 and 1908, with a league-wide batting average of .239, slugging average of .306, and ERA under 2.40. That year, the Chicago White Sox hit three home runs for the entire season, yet they finished 88–64, just a couple of games from winning the pennant.[4]

they put too much stock in stats and records. the game has been manipulated so much and part of that is because it's so old, but I just hate the fact that stats are held to such a high standard. Babe Ruth is worshiped even to this day but he played at a time when pitching was just coming off the dead ball era and was putting the ball over the play every time. How fast was the ball going back then? How many athletes played. Babe Ruth was a fat fukk who could hit the ball.

i dont hold stats and records to such importance, i like when my team wins and when the game is entertaining

i dont know a singe stat of babe ruth except for 714. his legend is because he was an outsized personality from an orphanage, played for historic teams, was until 9 years ago the center of the beef between said teams, and hit home runs, the sexiest part of baseball.

dont feel like you have to be a part of the analytical 24 hour sports news world.

Them ancient cats like Cy Young and Babe Ruth dont count because they was playing against only CACs. If they had to compete against the Latins, Asians, and blacks i would like to see their numbers. You had cats like Josh Gibson hitting 500 foot blasts like it wasn't shyt and wasn't even allowed to play.
