If Digable Planets was a new group today, would they have the same success they had back in the day?

With a breakout single like Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat), I think so.

Even tho their 2nd album ain't have the same mainstream success as the 1st, the 2nd joint was even better than the 1st IMO. :wow:

No fronting, I've only ever known the one song and I was a little one during their time so I can't really recall how big they may have gotten off that one song:yeshrug:

If they dropped today, I honestly wouldn't see them making it past a few rounds with the college radio crowd. :francis:

to answer the question you posed, i lean toward think they would work in this era. the male/female line up is an instant selling point and they could find the right records and make some noise. wasn't it some fukkery over creative differences/ ladybug(:lolbron:)....so they would probably ultimately break up once again because those two things

Groups don't really work in today's hip hop. Yeah, you got groups like Rae, Migos but they're like the exception.

Yeah.

It was my understanding that they ultimately broke up due to creative differences.

They need to add some triple hi hats :heh:
:russ:
But for real though, something would have to be different production wise on rebirth of slick. Between the dope hook, it's just drum and that funky bass line. Ordinarily I wouldn't say that's a bad thing, but it makes it feel like they in dead space on that song going on forever... and ever.... until finally.... I'm chill like that:mjlol:
