So we gonna forget Duncan as a 1 seed lost to 8 seed?
Kobe is a better player
Popovich, Ginobili, Parker, Michael Finley, Big shot Bob were all big factors in the spurs winning in the past. Spurs don't need Duncan as much as Lakers needed Kobe

Duncan will never surpass Kobe, Kobe has owned him too many times in the playoffs. Not to mention, Kobe's been top 5 for the last 15 years, Timmy hasnt . its that simple. Kobe also performed better in the playoffs in general. Kobe put up better numbers as second option than Tim did as a 1st option. Case and point, the 2001 playoffs. Kobe averaged 33, 6, 7 against the Spurs whereas Tim averaged 23 and 12.

lets see, so far Duncan has never lost in the Finals. Kobe has![]()

kobe has never lost in the first round as a #1 seed Duncan has![]()
Duncan lost to a lower seed 5 times and lost two series after being up 2-0.let's give duncan a pass on that considering his team was injured. In turn we'll give kobe a pass for the 08 finals

While Duncan's never had a teammate as good as Shaq, he's also never had teams as bad as some of Kobe's. Duncan's also had the benefit of having Pop coaching the Spurs during his entire career. The Spurs as an organization have been the epitome of consistency too.
Besides Phil, Kobe's had Del Harris, Kurt Rambis, Frank Hamblen, Rudy T, Mike Brown and the proud owner of the worst coaching performance in NBA history, Mike D'Antoni as coaches. During Phil's 11 seasons as coach, Kobe went to 7 Finals and won 5. Not a bad ratio.
I think everyone already has their mind made up of who has been the better player between the two, regardless of what happens in the Finals. Kobe gets the nod to me because he's had a longer run of sustained excellence. He's never had a dip in his production, while dealing with a lot more turmoil and coaching changes than Duncan ever had to go through.
to a logical postHolla @ me when Kobe win a chip without an all star big
