Stop it. Eminem is easily the most overrated MC of all time. ZERO UNIVERSALLY considered CLASSIC albums, several below average albums, a shytLOAD of wack/corny tracks and verses and one of the most notable skill fall offs in hip hop history. Even Dre said that's the closest he's ever come to producing a perfect album.
From a purely technical standpoint top 5 in his prime. Overall impact and success within the game top 5. As an all round artists and emcee, Em would be top 10-20 for sure, you could make a case for 10 other emcees with a better catalogue than him. Recovery and Encore were big let downs, and D12 World was disappointing.
He also has a lot of tracks that are just borderline trash (Puke, Fack, We Made You etc). SSLP, MMLP and Eminem Show were a great trifecta, and for the amount of hate it gets I love Relapse, but yeah, his music hasn't aged that well, and as of late his musics been hit and miss.
I honestly cant take anyone seriously who puts Em in their top 10. On a technical level the white boy can rap with the best of them but his catalogue is shyt

MMLP is a dope album but is not in the same league of albums like Chronic, Ready to Die, 36 Chambers, etc...none of his albums are. Let's be real. And you're right...none of them have aged well.
The impact he has is mainly because of the fact that he's a marketable whiteboy that got an OFFICIAL black hip hop co-sign in Dr, Dre. Dude has not been in the game for 20 years and he's been generating predominantly average to wack, uninspired music for almost a decade now. Dudes feeling like they wanna "punch" guys in the face because they don't have him in their top 20?

White media mentions MMLP classic. Em does not have an album that can be called classic without heavy dissent.
In terms of pure mic skills there's only a handful of nikkas in history who are really fukkin with Em
that being said I'd never even think about putting him in my top 5, technical ability aint everything. You can't have a decade long stretch of putting out a mediocre product the way Em has and still get a place on the Mount Rushmore of hip-hop.

I think MMLP is highly debatable in regard to it being a classic album. I personally think it is. It's really the only album of his that I fukked with. Just couldn't get into the other joints as much.
And that's what I meant earlier in the thread. Dude's catalogue is mad shaky. He's got some really wack shyt out there. He goes from amazing to WTF throughout his whole career. That's why I think his spot is type questionable.

Top 5 is too high, but top 10 easily. He put out too much good music. Kim and Stan kills most of these guys catalog. SSLP, MMLP, and TES are too nice. All the rappers in the top have similar stats, no rapper has put out more than 3 stellar albums. He fits all the quota, plus he demolished all the features he was on the past 5 years.
Top 5...yes...rather y'all like it or not...deal with it
