Here is the key issue. Iran had the firepower to beat the ENTIRE middle east, including Israel but because of 50 years of sanctions and propaganda, they could never be an "agressor" because everyone all over the world would gang up on them.

Now the problem with technological advances is you cannot introduce new technology in an offensive war without massive repercussions. But because Israel and America not only attacked them during negotiations, but also assassinated their leader, they had all the political coverage to see what damage they really could do on the world stage.
They had 3 questions that needed to be answered that would be impossible without outside agression to them.
1. Can we shut down the Straight of Hormuz? Who would oppose us?
2. Can we overwhelm the COMBINED missile defense of the ENTIRE middle east?
3. Can we make life completely untenable in Israel for the settlers?
No.1 was the only one they were SURE of because they did it before.
No.2 required amazing political coverage. In the 12 day war, every country helped shoot down missiles "in their airspace" but didn't shoot down Israeli jets "in their airspace."
So from a logical perspective, if you want to bomb Israel, you must first make sure no one interferes.
After 3 weeks of relentless harassment, all the gulf states are now extremely low on supplies and are only caring about themselves. Meanwhile, the US is stripping allies around the world of their air defenses to protect the only country that owns them, Israel.
No.2 is now considered a MASSIVE success.
no.3 Now that all anti missile and drone defenses across the region are spent, Iran has now targeted key infastructure in Israel. Power, Nuclear research facilities, all airports. Spacing out missile barrages so they are constantly in alert and hiding in bunkers.
Life is MISERABLE in Israel right now andits so bad that when they tried to invade Lebanon, they got bodied by Hesbollah because Morale is so low. People are deserting because they have no protection from missiles and drones.
No. 3 is becoming the new reality.
If Iran survives this war with no conditions on them, the gulf states will no longer work closely with America, Iran will instantly propel to super power status, controlling most of the middle east, and the gulf states will form a pact with Iran so they can no longer be sanctioned as they will all sell their oil as a collective from now on.
