what're the splits with and without shaq in those games?

only time they faced in the playoffs, without shaq, while both in their primes was 2008 WCF
Lakers won in 5
Kobe - 29.2 | 5.6 | 3.8 | 53% FG
Duncan 22.4 | 17.3 | 4.8 | 42% FG

Duncan had Parker, Ginobli, Bowen, Finley, Horry, Kurt Thomas, Brent Barry all in their primes.
Kobe had Gasol, Farmar, Walton, Turiaf, Ariza, Radmonovic, Odom and still dismantled the Spurs

truth hurts :yeshrug:

In years with Shaq

in 2004 Lakers 4-2
Kobe 26.3. | 6.3 | 5.8
Shaq 22.5 | 14.3 | 2.0
Duncan 20.7 | 12.2 | 3.3

in 2002 Lakers Won 4-1
Kobe 26.2 | 5.4 | 4.8
Shaq 21.2 |12.3 | 3.2
Duncan 29.0 | 17.0 | 3.2

in 2001 Lakers Won 4-0
Kobe 33.3 | 7.0 | 7.1
Shaq 27.3 | 13.0 | 3.2
Duncan 23.2 |12.4 | 3.1

Truth Hurts. Kobe was better than Duncan in every metric you can use.

signifies he was a role player

if Kobe averaged 20ppg with the likes of Odom, Fisher, Ariza, Luke Walton etc they wouldnt make the playoffs.

And if Duncan didn't provide great defense and rebounding and an elite post presence on both ends, the Spurs wouldn't be the Spurs. When has 20 PPG ever been such a deciding factor that it cancels out everything else that one does? There was a difference between what Duncan had to do on his team and what Kobe had to do on his (besides them both being #1s) so I don't know why the comparison was made between Duncan and Kobe in particular.

So when other Hall of Famers in this league dipped below 20 PPG in a season but weren't out of their primes (there are several), they were just suddenly role players? It's dependent on how good they are overall breh. It doesn't always come down to whether a guy can give you 20+ or not.

Don't forget Pau Gasol and Shaq before him, since we're gonna name Duncan's HOF teammates and not mention the lesser players he played with, but do the opposite for Kobe.

I don't hate Timmy. He's a GOAT. The Lakers v Spurs 2000s battles were primetime. I respect Duncan, when Duncan fans rank him ahead of Kobe I don't get mad, for their generation I feel you can go Kobe, Shaq, Duncan in any order. :yeshrug:
