A lot of people think that he missed his shot at cementing his legacy as the P4P best of his era by not fighting Pacquiao at his prime.

If Floyd fights both Alvarez and then Martinez at 154, AND WINS, will he be able to re-claim himself as the boxing King of his generation? Do those fights make up for not fighting Pacquiao?

No.

He missed the Pac train, like other fighters he missed, and Martinez aint the same anymore. Also, they want to drain Canelo down to 147:scusthov:

Floyd regardless is the King of his era....but all his ducks will affect his all-time standing amongst the other Kings of boxing.

So we've moved from the "find somebody better to beat Floyd" to the 'find somebody bigger to beat Floyd" stance, huh? Now his career comes down to whether or not he fights a Mexican who can't speak English (realistically how is this fight gonna be sold to the buying public??) who comes into a fight as a light heavyweight? Or whether he fights a guy who is two weight classes north that just got dropped twice at home in a showcase fight against a guy he was supposed to steamroll? Stop with these random "boogey men" that get a lil spark and then hide behind the "Floyd is ducking" mantra. What happened to the days of a fighter earning it.....ala Floyd? You want Floyd spot? Well go get it! Regardless of weight, gloves, ring size, purse size, etc....GO GET IT! Floyd did with Oscar. Nowadays a guy get a few wins under his belt and then all of a sudden, if Floyd doesn't run over and put out the fire (regardless of the demands) he's all of a sudden ducking. Boxing is dying because of its fans. Terrible.

floyd the best in this era regardless
and it's not his fault the pacquaio fight didn't go down

but regardless, that is the public perception from casuals and about half of the die hard fans (aka pactards) so it will just effect his all time status most likely

most ppl think he would beat pacquaio anyway

I dont like Floyd.. but you are on point

Mayweather just didnt have great fighters to fight. Some of it was him waiting to long to fight somebody like Mosely in their prime.. but it just wasnt in the cards for his division I guess..

Boxing on the whole is just :flabbynsick: for the most part.

Besides weight and power what skills does Canelo and Martinez possess to trouble Floyd, and how does that skill set make them better Floyd opponents than Matthysse or Garcia, I'll wait??????????......................:obama:

Truth is if people were being honest with themselves no one really thinks Canelo or Martinez is anywhere near floyds skill level, they only want the fight because they will outweigh floyd by almost 25-30 pounds.

Go tell a casual fan that Canelo, who's biggest win is against Trout, is fighting Floyd, you'll get a lot of blank stares. Now tell them to Google him and let his "interviews" sell himself, you'll get even more. Nobody outside of die hards know him. Thats why all his fights are in Mexico or near the border. He can't go to Atlantic City and do numbers. He can't even go to NY and do numbers. Yet you seem to think that fight is easy to sale? Ok.
