No, it wouldn't have mattered. Dissing a more credible MC would've just been more of an embarrassment. The same defenses that are used to defend Drake would be used to defend a more credible rapper. The difference would be that Meek Mill would've received far more of a backlash from Hip Hop in general.

that's the thing about it, there are a lot of people who can't have the discussion without picking sides and if you disagree with the side they chose, you're automatically on the other side, there's absolutely no in between shyt is disgusting.
:dwillhuh::mindblown: why yall dudes still talking bout meek or the diss tracks. he asked a question about if a dude wit legit writing ability got expose would it matter. and can we stop acting like meek was shytting on next level as soon as he asked him.

@Homeboy Runny-Ray to answer your question it would matter, i know u dont look at kendrick or j cole as that good, but if they or lupe got expose it would a much bigger story, drake fans would have cared :mjpls: cause it would be ammo. and those artist wouldnt have the help of wattaburger and burger king to protect them

yea its mind-boggling how far off people can take a thread. lol. no wonder we cant enforce rules. people cant even read em!!!

and yea, imagine a lupe fiasco or somebody getting caught with reference tracks. my head would explode.

btw, thanks for not wasting my time with cole & kendrick. theyre good writers tho.

,most of meek's backlash isnt even from hip-hop.

let me stop you right there.

youre in the wrong thread buddy. this isnt the place for this.

this isnt a meek vs drake thread.

you didnt type all that for nothing tho. just cut-n-paste it to a thread where it actually applies.

Essentially, my point is that the reaction would've been the same because of his approach. If he'd gone at someone like...Kendrick (for example), the same thing would've happened. Everyone would've remembered that Kendrick held him down on "A1" and would have wondered where the accusations were coming from or what Kendrick ever did to Meek for Meek to come at him.

If Kendrick would've clowned him on two tracks, everyone would've gone just as insane b/c it's someone from the new school dealing with a problem on wax and not social media.

If he would've pump-faked on an underwhelming diss with Funk Flex in an effort to take Kendrick, it still would've played out the same.

so because meek didnt drop a hot track, that means that we're supposed to forget about the ghostwriting & the reference tracks? LOL.

1.) there shouldnt have even been a battle after those reference tracks were dropped. in fact, drake still hasnt even addressed the situation.
2.) how did he lose the battle? dude dropped a dam sampler track and then got ambushed on social media. people wanted him to "lose" from the door. this thing is far from over.
3.) this meek/drake thing really aint about diss records. cuz drake didnt drop a hot one either. lets be reality.

:usure:

I dont know breh.... that "Is that a world tour or your girl tour" was a pretty hotline:patrice:

Not to mention the trigger fingers line and boss bytches wifing niccas (manhood disrespect)

Those 3 lines along are gonna have a long life line:skip:

It would be if he called out a more credible MC.

if meek exposed somebody that i actually thought was nice, then meek millz would be the last thing on my mind. let alone a battle.

i wouldnt even want to hear a battle or any new tracks PERIOD if somebody i thought was hot, got caught with reference tracks. not to mention all the other scandals that were poppin up last week that got swept under the rug. they would have some explaining to do.

drake didnt even address it.

this rap chit been dead, but now they need to just get rid of it altogether.

This is a really good point. Drake has reached Jay Z level in terms of fan base, durability and sustainability. Alot of comparisons especially the whole writer I'm not a biter.

- Jay Z lost to Nas
- Dropped duds with RKelly and sad cross-over attempts with Linkin Park
- Got beat up by his wife's sister
- Losing with Tidal

and so on...and still the mainstream sticks by him and he is untarnished. Moreover, as an artist and alongside 'his team', Drake remains a talented force. The way he dealt with the battle was precise and measured. He is bullet-proof at the moment, and that is not really good for hip hop purists.

I just wonder if Drake is now so cocky having won his first major battle, he'd go at Kendrick to cement his spot at number 1. One can hope...
:mjlol:@ comparing Drake to Jay. thecoli's disrespect towards Jay is just flat out ridiculous.

There's one small difference between Drake and Jay... Jay actually a very dope rapper w/ an extremely high skill set w/ multiple classic albums.

you keep arguing about meek and his track. listen man, i dont know how many times i have to say i dont give a dam about meek!!! and its not like drake's tracks were worth a dam either. this whole chit is just weird.

if hip-hop was where it was supposed to be, the reference tracks shouldve been enough. this doesnt even call for a battle. it calls for a dam expulsion. thats what youre not comprehending. youre too caught up in the hype.

rick ross wasnt a cop. he was a CO. he couldve easily said some generic chit to talk his way out of that. he messed up by trying to deny it. dude was clearly fake from jump anyway. i knew a some sort of silly scandal was trailing his ass. but thats just side chit. thats for real d-boys and goons to be mad about. i'm more concerned with people pump-faking on the art. most of the people dwelling on rick ross' CO job aint never seen no parts of the streets.

nobody was saying that jay-z didnt need to battle cam except for jay-z groupies who were shook.

cam served jay-z, but i could care less about that "writer not a biter" joint.

jay was just paying homage. its not like there were a bunch of instances of him taking lines from obscure songs. his selections were basic. if people felt bamboozled and didnt know those lines already, then thats their problem for not knowing chit.

jay-z did ALOT of harm to hip-hop but this isnt on my list.
Oh? Ok. Jay was just paying homage huh?

U pick and choose what Is hip hop violation?

The reference tracks were a huge piece of ammo. That meek used incorrectly.
