Put it like this, Joey BadA$$ would struggle in the 90's. What New York needs is another Biggie. Someone who can make edgy street tracks but also makes songs that bang in the clubs/radio airwaves and has that charisma.

Honestly no one.....

Because new York is so diversified....Camron reps Harlem, but that isn't necessarily the reflection of a Brooklyn nikka...new York is at its best when all boroughs and even spots like Y.O. have someone who is in the mix....we are just too different

Its bigger than that my nikka...the industry is all about whose ass you can kiss to get the big air play....

Puffy had Clive Davis in his pocket and that helped a lot...

Joey Badass has no personality, he's one of them nikkas that still loves to rap..about rapping :flabbynsick:

Also his fake early 90's vibe is corny.

These nikkas exist, the game just doesnt wanna support em

Jay-Z and nikkas on the South's dikk are the only NY rappers that can get any kind of traction on a national stage.... our mainstream chapter is closed fam.

Because NY is not really looking for a comeback. You internet/social media fans are. It's not about regions or coast. Hip Hop is strictly music industry ran now. When will y'all understand that? It's about money, not coastal competition. These rappers aren't even running ish now.

The sound I hear coming form a lot New York artists is kind of a grimey club music with a slight polish, I'd point to AraabMuzik being the best representation of that current NY sound in my opinion.

I've heard cats like Trav, Banks, Oun P, Jim Jones with this sound over the last couple of years.

Troy Ave is the only NY rapper in the last two years to come out who i feel can become a decentish mainstream rapper, has that Mase swag and flow.

The next lyrically polished rapper who can make bangers to come out of New York will have the whole game behind him forrreal, you can tell the likes of Jay, Nas and other oldheads are just waiting for a new New York rapper in the mould of Kendrick to come out, nikkas will be hailing him like a new messiah, same way they did Biggie when he came out amidst the West Coast dikkriding.

I want to roll this comment up in a Dutch & pass it around in here so MAYBE people will start to realize this.......my explanation would just be a "TLDR", so respect for putting this into a short version bc you read my mind & couldn't be more right IMO
