Under paid tbh. Also most aren't trash or didn't intend to be. They're usually buried under cases and ridiculous time constraints.

because it's a profession... can't just hire a guy from some parking lot to show up and undercut the economy of it by taking the job for peanuts with no credentials.

i just picture some guy with a bald spot in the parking lot getting out his Buick with his speedway coffee n papers with a black n mild in his mouth n some guy in a suit from a firm asking him if he wants to be a public defender :pachaha:

Yes and I think you should be stacking bread :salute:

But acting like an undergrad STEM degree is strictly more marketable a juris prudence is very uninformed
i agree. a bachelors in biology is pretty useless unless u become a teacher or get a higher degree . Or go into pharmaceuticals like I did .
However a law degree can be pretty useless to if u don't make the moves u need to make . If be pissed if i graduated from the same law school as someone making 400k and I'm making 67 with the same degree

My point is private attorneys are raping folks who think they getting a deal just by paying crazy fees for simple crimes. I'm not mad at it, they gotta get their just pay.

Pay 8k and all the attorney got you was a 1.5k fine, community service, and some other classes. The DA was gonna offer that shyt regardless for those simple crimes.

More serious offenses, I'm not disputing the value of a private attorney.
My fault I missed the part where you said misdemeanor. Yeah I got friends that have spent like $5k for first time DUIs but I can't fault them thought cause we in industries where you gotta have a good record.

I was a public defender for a few years and made six figures doing so.

For the amount of work I put in for my clients, I was significantly underpaid.

I can speak on this. I went to a top 3 law school and my first job out of law school paid me roughly 45k to represent people on death row. Most of my classmates were bringing in over 250k at large law firms.

I wouldn’t say that I was pissed about the discrepancy in compensation because I knew what I was getting into. Was it fair or just ? No. But that’s the life I chose at the time.
