It's a good question, the music he was putting out saved his ass though.
I remember the thread when mafia music dropped, that shyt was crazy, he went from kinda basic trap rapper, to a nikka that was able to go bar for bar with Kool g rap, nas and Jay. He held his own. At that point you had to make a decision.
It's like he gained fans by getting better, but he lost fans by being labeled a fraud. So it hurt him I think . The sales are consistent which is good, but they don't really increase.
I think he will be stuck around gold until he fades away. But every time you think he might be fading he pops up on a big record. One of the problems is its usually never his record. He is gonna have to hold down a hit on his own to get to plat . Not on his own but his song.
At this point with mmg being successful, it don't even matter its not to many rappers doing the label thing successfully.
Wale and Meek doing well, I don't know whether to blame bad boy or mmg for French flopping, if he can get rockie fresh or Stalley or omarion to actually release an album and do respectable numbers like at least 2 to 250 overall it would be a success. shyt if self Made do over 100k the first week it's a success.

....Ross don't have verses like this to his name...his most memorable shyt to the average person would be his hooks like "dese nikkas can't hold me back"...and the bmf hook....I can't remember a single verse from this nikka and I wuz a fan before the c.o shyt....he wuz just a good rapper with good beats,not enuff to be superstar status no matter how much they tried to push em....a rapper like Young Dro had more superstar potential than Ross and isn't even as good as an artist
Plies having a memorable verse on I'm so hood, I forgot that nikka was on the song, the song aint even memorable.
