say you play on soccer or tennis team or a sport that brings in not much money.........your scholarship you used to get to school might be leaving
By that logic you could say the same for any athlete that doesn't play football, for there are money making endeavors for each sport. And as an athlete whose sport people like and are willing to pay to watch, I should care?
Say you are in a job that doesn't pay much money. Should I, in a job that pays more money, have to curtail my own salary and sacrifice my own wel being so you can make more? No, make your own money. Soccer and tennis athletes have their own destinies and own arrangements to make money. Their fates, salaries, etc should have nothing to do with any other athlete's anywhere but the free market. That's capitalism.

Besides, it's amateur athletics at the end of the day. It's kinda funny how this country has turned on amateur athletics yet generally refuse to support minor leagues. That arrangement isn't the same anywhere else
There's nothing amateur about college football or basketball. The only reason the NCAA exists is because of an anti-trust exception so even the courts knew the NCAA's amateurism argument is bunk when the corrupt judges 30+ years ago ruled for the NCAA. That's why all these lawsuits are cropping up. The NCAA can't exist as it does without allowing people to negotiate in any but a corrupt system.Wouldn't they make the players to pay for their own tuition and board? That would screw teams like Notre Dame and Syracuse.
Well if that's the case why would a kid go to class? If you pay someone to do something, they are entitled to do whatever they want with that money. Why not just take that money and live off of it until you are eligible for the draft?
Did you read my post? This is what I said.
The NCAA football and basketball system aren't amateur athletics. The NCAA brings in billions of dollars a year - it's worth more than the NBA. Some coaches get paid more than NFL coaches. There are strict training regimens given to the so-called "amateurs" and money is freely passed around like water when it comes to recruiting. Amateurs don't play this sport; semi pro athletes do. Anyone who isn't intellectual bankrupt agrees. Are you Mark Emmert in disguise? There's nothing amateur about college football or basketball. That's their choice. They could take the money and run - or stay and go to the NFL. But the same is true in soccer, golf, hockey, tennis, etc. Some will go, some will stay. What's the problem?
It practically destroys a significant chunk of the inventory (by that I mean most schools would just shut it down, which is not what the intent is.) Schools would just stick to the way it is and maintain relative health since people root for laundry. That's their choice. They could take the money and run - or stay and go to the NFL.
