If the only goal is to win a title, stopping Strasburg at 165 makes zero sense

an innings cap has never made sense to me even if it's understandable as to why they wanna protect pitchers. No inning pitched is the same. If they wanna limit his pitch count, that makes more sense than an innings cap.

Pitchers are too unpredictable to impose some theory that's not guaranteed to work.

I agree with pitch count rather than innings pitched. I think they just want to play it safe with him since he's had Tommy John already and it wasn't that long ago.

He's not pitching in the playoffs.

Link ? Just a few days ago during the Mets broadcast they were discussing how Rizzo just came out and said they upped the innings limit to 180 but that includes the playoffs. Theoretically he could hit 180 before the end of the season and not pitch him at all in the playoffs. But say they cap him during the regular season at 160, that's still 20 additional innings he could go in the playoffs. That's if what the Keith and Gary were discussing is true.

I applaud the fact that they have a plan and are sticking to it, but he needs to pitch in the playoffs. Shop a few regular season starts, give him a start or two in September as a tune up and let him loose in October

that would have been fine, but if he dont pitch the playoffs, this shyt is disgusting..

Shutting him down will bring the Teams Chemistry down.. their wont be no Thrive seeing their ACE healthy as fukk not pitching a single game when it matters.

Why not have him start just a few more games this season to stay fresh and unleash him in the postseason?

This.

The Nats COULD be good for the next 4-5 years...................or maybe they could not.

Bryce Harper could have a career ending injury.

Zimmerman could have another injury.

Etc, etc, etc...

Go for the gusto NOW while you're in the thick of things and don't worry about what COULD happen next year and the year after.

Exactly they may be trash next year or not as good .strasburg could hurt himself in spring training anything could happen :dwillhuh:

I got to give it up to Nolan Ryan and the Rangers for not babying there pitchers shyt is one of my biggest pet peeves. No one says you have to be Dusty Baker or Dallas Green fukking up Al Leiter but still the babying really is ridiculous. Let these guys pitch.

It was easier when these dudes weren't getting paid so much.

Who's to say he doesn't go out next year first game and blow his shoulder out on the first pitch. I understand limiting his pitches somewhat, but come on this is too much. The Nats got a chance to win a World Series and they gonna bench their young ace. Nothing wrong with protecting ur investment but don't u wanna get the maximum out of that investment. And a World Series is the ultimate reward.

If they pitch him and he's tired in the playoffs or gets hurt again - Blame Management.

they don't pitch him and the Nats lose their spot in the playoffs - Blame Management.

Its not just that they might suck, they might be dope but some other team just has a hot season.

Everything broke right for them this year, I also agree the team moral is gonna go way down, the other players dont wanna hear that shiiit, we won all year with this dude as our ace and now he aint pitching and hes perfectly healthy??

We are gonna witness the dumbest move in the history of sports possibly, like this story should be even bigger then it already is.
