You just criticized the other poster for making predictions and followed up by hypothesizing about Montana doing what Young did.

How is getting to the SB worse than not getting there?
Joe was still having an inferior Kansas city team in the afc title game. if you gave him the team young had with rice, waters, merton hanks, ken Norton, deion sanders, jj stokes, brent jones, and many others, it's a very safe assumption to say that with as vastly superior a cast steve had that joe could have done it. He led the chiefs to a win over the 49ers that season on top of things. as opposed to making a prediction for season's end 4 months from now. joe won 4 titles in 9 years and was a roger craig fumble away from having the 49ers in 3 bowls in a row. The standard around here is it's worse to lose the big game than to not make it. I know I consider it worse to lose to a 9 win giants team than a 12 win ravens team.

Why do you keep bringing up a "standard" that you yourself do not believe in? Anyone who says that missing a SB is better than making a SB is an idiot.

Montana wasn't as good as Young by 1994. And no, i don't think he would've been the factor that would've overtaken the Cowboys during those years.

Joe used to the best QB all-time until Brady eclipsed him last year. However you want it - stats or rings - he's done it better than anyone :manny:

having as many rings = being better? The 49ers beat Dallas in 1994 on the strength of forcing I think 4 or 5 turnovers. Any great quarterback should win when they get that many extra possessions. In the case of 2011, consider which is more embarrassing: losing the afc title game to a Ravens team that was 12-4, one of the best running games in football, a solid passing attack, and arguable the best defense in the league with 5 guys who have made all pro teams and 3 who won a combined 4 defensive player of the year awards, or losing to a 9-7 giants team that was ass cheeks in running and defense and got swept by Washington. you're a pretty solid poster from what I've seen. consider how over inflated passing numbers have gotten the last 10 years and compare them to what defenses could do in the 1980's and 90's. Also consider when comparing career totals that joe missed 1991 and 1992. To compare modern passing numbers to pre 2004 numbers is disingenuous at best.

Winning the same number of rings and playing for more is better.

The only people that can talk shyt to the Pats after the year 2000 are Giants fans. They are the only ones to beat us when it matters.

With that said, they have a shytty ass organization right now and a lucky catch and a lucky drop are all that stood in the way of the Giants being completely irrelevant in this millennium.
