nikka people were making connections in different countries and making real life changes in their life via Twitter, you cant replicate that or replace having access to that many people by "going outside" :beli: quite literally have friends who got married and had kids after meeting on there, from different countries. Even more who did it for work/career changes

Y'all being obtuse as hell acting like the only thing people did on there was bullshyt around, y'all clearly were out of the loop.
People got record deals of twitter. Interviews off Twitter. Booking and management deals from Twitter. Book deals from Twitter.

Quinta Brunson started on Twitter
Zack Fox started on Twitter
Desus & Mero started on Twitter

A whole bunch of Black businesses were able to expand their clientele and reach new audiences cause of Twitter. Black chefs went viral on there and got deals with the Food Network. BLack women promoting salons on Twitter. Entrepreneurs promoting themselves on Twitter.

Folks went viral on Twitter and now some company is sending them free stuff to promote.

It's about opportunity. Social Media is a tool to promote whatever to whoever all over the world. And opportunity translates to money.

The most viewed Tweet in a minute, has 100mil views.

The tweet with the most views of all-time got something like 300mil views and you know many of those views were, some people probably viewed it 10 times.

So even if they were all unique views, not even 10% of the world saw the most popular tweet of all-time :mjlol:

Even for a soccer player like Cristiano Ronaldo, not even 1% of the world's population saw dude's most popular tweet in 2023.

There's a 20 page coli thread right now on a tweet where cats acting like the world is ending when not even .1% of the world even saw that tweet :heh:
That means if you go up to 1000 people maybe 1 other person would be like "I seen that!"
Which is probably even less because those most likely aren't unique views.

Think about that before some of ya'll go obsessing over what you read on Twitter and make sweeping judgements about an impact of a social media post.
Not quite.

The actual viewership for popular posts is higher than can be measured by the app/sites’ viewership tracker.

Especially since screenshots of Tweets are constantly posted along other popular social media sites, like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

The individual reach of a single Tweet also doesn’t measure that much in terms of the sites’ impact - considering the sheer number of media stories that come from Tweets - which is disseminated to the general public through traditional media, and then duplicated through social media again (think any number of Trump’s late night Tweets).

Where in the hell is the new so called "CEO" in all of this? Elon is supposed to be stepping back while she calls all the shots. Yet all the big decisions are still coming from Musk.

Oh no, what will a small amount of the world do now?

Think of the smart, mature people you see at your job and living happy lives. They on Twitter?

How many emotionally stable people do you see using Twitter?

You got to realize most of the people posting on Twitter ain't mentally healthy.

This will be great for some people to step away from.

Maybe they'll go outside, touch some grass finally, not fall for survivorship bias, not have to read a bunch of posts from mentally unhealthy people and realize the world isn't falling apart.

Sounds like she's just padding her bank account and chilling. I can't copy & paste the article.

Twitter’s New Chief Eases Into the Hot Seat

Linda Yaccarino, who initially could not take ad sales meetings because of a noncompete clause, is adjusting to her new role reporting to Elon Musk.

Ms. Yaccarino also said she would take a different position from Mr. Musk’s rocky relationship with the media. Her strategy, she said, is to “have very good relationships with them so they become our advocates or mouthpieces to amplify our strategies.”

But Ms. Yaccarino also made it clear that she knew who was in charge. She referred to Mr. Musk, who was not in attendance, as “the boss.”
