Here’s the thing, it’s essentially career suicide right now to support reparations as a black candidate, regardless of what reparations means to that individual. But the more black people and progressives you elect, the less taboo this topic will become because you’ll have less sitting politicians with the power to make you a villain. Honestly, they may need to come up with a new word that means the same thing just to remove the stigma. The best solution is to play the long game understanding that YOU may not even get reparations… but maybe your children will. But we’ve lost that sense of providing for our children while sacrificing our present. So there’s that.

Our communities in the South are in dire need -- whether it's education facilities/technology, more jobs, being pushed out of (or looked over) jobs for illegal or legal immigrants, lack of proper and affordable housing, historical redlining -- and dealing with rampant environmental racism.

If you as a Black politician, especially a Native Black American/ADOS can't stand up and even say you agree a debt is owed -- or even help to push a damn study for reparations - then we know you are going to go to bat for us specifically for anything else.
