If we're keeping it 100, people expect TOO MUCH out of a $60 video game

I remember walking into Kmart as a kid with like $35-$40 of Christmas money, felt like I was balling and I was going to buy a new game. All the games were 60,70,80 bucks. Even the crappie games that had been out for a few years were over priced

$60 is 1/5 the cost of the hardware. Also a game like Horizon cost close to $50 million to make. Hollywood movies cost way more than that to make and the end product sells for far less.

and a lot of them end up in the red and so we end up with comic book movies or movies that all feel and look the same, which is now what's going on with video games.

i personally think they should charge more than 60$ instead of doing DLCs.

Games are toys. A toy can cost $25 and provide months or years of enjoyment.

I personally think games are no different. And should be $50
Toys are the semantical umbrella which games fall under. Sure, a toy can provide months or years of enjoyment AND so can a free-to-play ($0) MMORPG or ($10) Minecraft.

Video games are very different than 'toys' and should be priced accordingly.

I disagree. Again.

Games operate on a scale of quantity. You price a game at the right price, and yoi will sell a ton. If its too high its not worth it and you'll sell less .

The game could be a dud.

Sure you could say a gta v should be priced more because it took so long to make, and it provides months/yrs of fun.

But thats the game, so to speak

I'm not sure what your argument is because originally it was about a game being obsolete once beaten. Then games are toys and prices of said toys has a correlation with their value, all of which I tried to address directly. Now this.

There are free to play models which get millions and millions in revenue (DOTA, LoL, CoC, damn near every KING mobile title) so a game's value isn't related to its retail cost. I won't argue that people will pay $100 for games. shyt, I probably wouldn't. :kobedunno:

What I would and I think I'm only arguing for the fact that game development is very expensive and if we're keeping it a buck, games should be way more expensive than they are. I'd say we're lucky the shyt isn't Australia or Brazilian level here in the states. $60 day one ain't shyt.

Charge 100 dollars for a game and you better hope to God that meta critic score is in the 90s because otherwise that flop will be :blessed:

You see it. :yeshrug:

Dudes in here aren't thinking properly.

I mean, hell, Netflix provides enough content to be worth WAY more than $9 a month. Doesnt mean we as consumers shoukd be paying more for it.

And just bc some of us hsve expendable income to pay 60 for a game, A. that doesn't mean the entire gaming community does, and B. For every game worth its money, theres 5-10 that suck and are a waste of money

And if you notice, when games were cheaper, there were way more releases.

Sure NFL 2k5 was worth more thab $20, but it wasn't worth $100.

I agree.

The $60 model is archaic.

And frankly it's not even real, considering the dlc and season passes. I mean how much did destiny day 1 players really pay for that game if they wanted all the content?

Games should explore the pay scale. Get rid of season passes and price games from $20-$150 but you get everything all at once. No micros or season passes.

All games shouldn't cost the same arbitrary price.
Breh, this aint Japan :heh:

You think people are gonna wanna spend over $100+ on games just because the publisher felt like setting it to that price? That shyt aint gonna fly over here :mjlol:

Then again.....:iseeu:

shyt lets raise the price on everything.

We're all uber-dependant on Internet at this point.

We can't function without it.

Maybe they need to charge us more for it. :beli: It provides damn near 24 hrs a day of use.

You realize the game + season pass and shyt is basically already $100.

Games are $79.99 now in Canada and season passes are $30-40 and guess what? People still pay.
