you said it reflects on them some way, in your way of thinking a negative way
what CFB coach has a track record of producing great pro QBs? go ahead tell me.
It reflects on them in the way that: they don't produce pro level quarterbacks.

Notice I didn't necessarily say THEM specifically. I just spewed out the names of successful college coaches.

But you're stuck on this QB thing.
You're not acknowledging that the type of program a coach runs is DIRECTLY correlated to whether or not a specific recruit might want to go there --- to the extent that players can choose where they want to go (many players go where they can).

This applies to DTs, WRs, DBs, RBs...EVERYONE.

You think elite college prospects are picking certain programs because they just want to win the Rose Bowl, graduate and work at Enterprise Rent A Car?

They're trying to get to the NFL.
Who you play for matters.

Maybe not.

But it sure seems like you definitely have no chance to be an elite pro quarterback if you go to OSU

:francis:

if anything florida state is the closest to a qb U these days. if i was a qb i would go to florida state and play for jimbo, he gets guys into the nfl. i mean he has had 3 guys in the first round, i can see why golson went there. hes probably improved his draft stock by a couple of rounds

They might not care.
But it still reflects on their program.

OP is talking about players who want to excel and be prepared for the next level.
The program you choose has a big impact on whether you get to that next level.

Okay, you might win a chip at OSU.
But as a QB, that's likely all you'll ever do.

No it doesn't. I get what you're trying to say, but I don't think it's a big deal. Talent is going to get discovered by the NFL bruh.

You guys think that the only thing that reflects on a program is winning and losing.

I'm telling you it's more than that.

Florida hasn't had a dominant NFL WR or even a solid WR that had a consistent career since Gaffney and to an extent Harvin, but it has not stopped us from being able to bring in quality WR's. Developing them once they are on campus is another issue, but getting them to come to UF has never been a problem.

Now where I think you may have a point, and i don't know if you even made this point, is that it can possibly HURT you in recruiting if other coaches use the "why would you go to UF, they haven't developed those WR's for the next level. Look at our track record with getting WR's to the league". That kind of negative recruiting can be used if you are a coach who can't develop top talent for the next level.

It's all dependent upon the system.

If you have a coach who doesn't like to throw the ball, or runs an Option offense or something like that...why would you want to play under that system as a QB if you want to learn how to run a pro-style offense?
So that's what I'm saying.

There are exceptions.
Sometimes a coach works with what he has.

But in my view, it's fair to say that a guy like Urban Meyer has never developed a pro-style QB and probably never will.

Yea I cosign and to answer the question, I would never want to play under Urban if I REALLY had aspirations for being a top NFL draft pick as a QB. Yes the NFL is incorperating more read option elements into their offense, but for the most part, it will always be a 3-7 step go through your reads league. Urban is strictly trying to win college games. That's not HIS fault, that's his job. Recruits have to be smarter in selecting schools. THAT'S where it all starts
