I agree.

If you can't afford kids period then you shouldn't have them (and part of affording kids is being able to pay for 4 years of college imo/ or trade school/ or anything to get their foot in the door and have an even chance of being semi successful)

There's no reason why you should bring an innocent individual into this world with a handicap (which is brokeness) thanks to your own personal selfish needs (like wanting children)

Wanting kids is not a good enough reason to have them. You gotta be qualified both mentally, emotionally and financially.

That's a tough pill to swallow and this thread will be filled with excuses for someone who had 18 years to get it together but decided not to. You can come up with all the excuses but outside of unforeseen illnesses, what is more important than providing for your child's education?

You also take into the account the middle trash(class) who spends and ungodly amount on entertainment and other non-sense then turn right around and complain about the cost of education. While it increases and wages are stagnant that is no excuse to not provide anything for college. Let's be real. Most students who are taking out loans aren't taking out money to cover a semester or year.

It's for the entire duration including room, board, books and in extreme cases living expenses. In short most parents are failures. Their kids will pass the same sad story of not being able to afford college while not having at least a years worth of college in savings.

18 years and you can't get it done? :trash:

No.

I agree that parents should be able to provide their children with at least 4 yrs of higher education, but if one cannot for whatever reason, I don't think that it means that they have failed as a parent. Given the economical uncertainty in this country and the rising cost of tuition, most Americans cant afford to save $50+k just to send 1 child to college.

I think that ALL parents should groom and encourage their children to seek out free money (grants, scholarships, ect.) for college whether or not their have a college fund for them. There is nothing better than using free money vs your own.

No it doesn't make you a failure. Only the richest of the rich could afford to fully educate their kids without the collective cooporation of goverment and the people.

Different levels of parents need different levels of help. Some get tax breaks for money spent, or low intrest rates on loans, which are subsidized for the government. Some parents receive federal grants, or lower credit requirements in order to get loans.

Nobody told these ratchet hoes to have 4 kids though. and when they're 18 all four of those kids are looking like :what: cause there ain't no money to go to college.

Yeah, high education is expensive. If you're aware of this then why would u still go ahead and have so many kids ?

Apparently u don't give a fuk about your kids if you did something like that. Which makes u a sh1tty parent

No.

My parents paid for my degree, but they would still have been stellar parents if they hadn't.

I think that's the point. If you know you have a child going to college in 18 years, you start saving and planning for when that day comes. Threadstarter is asking if lackin that preparation makes for a failed upbringing.

I guess my mom failed as a parent. I paid for my own schooling and everything, now I know the value of a dollar and the stress of working while studying while attempting to have a social life as well.

In the end, I thank her for that. :manny:
