If you could add 3 new official statistics to the NBA, what would they be?

With stats becoming more and more popular, what new statistics would provide the most value in terms of reflecting a players impact on the game?

I would like to see passes that lead to fouls incorporated. Point guards setting their guys up who get fouled is just as valuable as an assist. If you can average 8.5 assists, why don't you get .5 assists for every FT made after a pass you made.

Since basketball is such a team game, it'd be hard to incorporate individual defense but I wish there was a rating system for that. It's pretty much all through the eye. Some defenders are great help defenders while some are great one-on-one. It'd be nice if there was a defensive metric that kind of sorted that out. Steals and blocks never tell a whole story of a defender.

That's all I got :manny:

i believe the best stat that shows player impact, is the +/- number while on/off the floor.. But i think its already official..(?)

now.. a new stat? maybe the pass that lead to an assist? or a stat that would show who starts the most fastbreaks in a game for easy baskets, or somthin like that..?

on the defensive end, a stat that shows how many points each player concedes to their opponent's..

Also a coaching stat maybe, like after a timeout whats the score in the next 10-20 points, to see if the timeout helped the team to recover, or make a run or somethin like that..

Scoring differential for defenders, how many points, or how effectively your man scores when you're guarding him, versus when somebody else is guarding him (during substitutions and switches).

Deflections & shot alters

And defensive miscues. Counting how often the other team scores because you lost your man, didn't rotate over, failed the pick and roll defense, etc.

I'd also like fg% to be accounted for when players take 3+ dribbles, versus 3 dribbles or less.

fukk stats, that's the fun thing about soccer.
They just play for 90 something minutes, no stats, no stopping the time, no nothing :dead:.
Even assist is hard to find, cats who know the game, know who's dope.

Stats is mostly helpful in baseball cause no one is trying to watch 100s of long ass games in which one player is active in offense for only a few minutes. The most misleading stats in basketball are easily assist and defensive rebounds.

I like all of these. The last one would be very interesting and could actually influence playing styles.
