If you live in a city that’s built for that kind of actual mobility. America is built car-centric, outside of 5-6 major metropolitan areas that have robust enough public transportation to live without a car.

electronic bikes makes that a moot argument, even motor scooters are a better investment. seen plenty of youtube videos of people in the surburbs getting thir shopping done on bikes. even the amish have gotten into using electronic bikes.

I found a kid on FB marketplace who came to my house and fixed my car for $300. I know a shop would have charged me way more, plus I would have had to tow it there.

But yeah, you’re likely either gonna have a car note or a you have to be prepared for the random maintenance costs.

Cash for clunkers ruined the used car industry, and created a new burden for the poor and middle class. Thanks Democrats for saving us from all that poison and pollution,we are good now:whew:

The issue is you're talking about "savings accounts". Not high yield, not a checking account that's collecting interest, or even CDs; not investment accounts...

Your money is supposed to be working for you. Not just sitting in a bank. My got damn 30k mile PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE service was $1300 :snoop:

Sounds more like you live in a fantasy land. Then try to blame everybody but yourself for not doing things the right way. Literally every penny counts. I can almost guarantee you dont have any kind of budget. I know where every dollar of mine is and what it will be in the future.

I used to work for a bank and the wealthiest people would call in to wonder why $2 and $3 in interest was missing from their accounts when they had hundreds of thousands of dollars in the account...

I mean, people with no bank account shouldn’t be buying money pits like Buicks (although I’m sure her car is fine)

No savings living check to check? Get a toyota! Still gonna have to repair shyt but less often and cheaper
I'm not a mechanic and did a few repairs/maintenance that would run my pockets.

I changed my alternator 300 and got 100 back for returning the old one, the mechanic priced me at $700 (parts + labour)

Cars are low key like big Lego pieces, but don't get me wrong certain things only a licensed professional should deal with.

Every car (yes even the great ones) is a money pit. It's just the matter of how much money it's gonna take from you. If you are a car enthusiast it is not a cheap endeavor/hobby

To answer OP's question, I have no idea how people buy cars without savings accounts, that shyt is bananas to me.:manny: I don't buy anything I couldn't buy at least twice
