Electrical unions are notoriously racist I heard stories about them....
As a blue collar trade bruh yes occasionally the job can wear on your body but showing up to a office and fake smiling to people I hate while staring at a screen all day scares the shyt out of me.
Kissing ass to work my way up the managerial ladder where I literally have to backstab and throw people under the bus to make myself look good scares the shyt out of me.
Thats just me though get a career that fits your personality

You know what it is though. Everything is either/or, one size fits all on the coli. Nuance, middle ground, ranges, and different strokes for different folks don't exist. Which is insane when you think about how many users here are obviously on the spectrum.
I work in IT Operations (i.e. help desk). The pay isn't as high as the developers, but I have more job security since computers never work as intended 100% of the time. I basically make money helping boomers and Gen X-ers who aren't tech-savvy.
I also work in the public sector, so I make more than I usually would in the private sector with union benefits, regular pay raises and a pension (usually not true for most public sector jobs but it works well for this one.)

Anyone looking to get into trades should apply to a local private company. Highly recommend going that route instead

As someone in the trades it took me 4 years to get out the apprenticeship. There's a lot of cacs,pork chops and Sambo's who I had to deal with. 4 years when a white boy would've gotten out in 2.
Here's how I navigated I did something some don't tell you but real ones will.
#1 Keep up to date with your certs because someone calls for an apprentice they want that person to be certified. I don't know how every city,state,union does it but with mine they go down the line on who has what certificate a company is looking for. But the drawback to this is cacs and pork chops will put there own on even if they're dumb as shyt by buying their union books for them.
#2 Use what theses cacs,pork chops and Sambo's say to your advantage. Keep your mouth shut and listen to what they say and what they don't say.
#3 Never refuse a job as an apprentice. For the last year and change I had to travel every day from the Bronx to Staten Island and not the hood part of SI I'm talking about mobster you literally 5 minutes from Jersey part of SI.
#4 Do your 8 and skate. You will see them being funny with the OT don't fret.
#5 Don't talk about using drugs, this includes weed,pills etc. around these fukks. I done seen young brehs fall into this trap talking about getting high before coming in thinking they just shooting the ahot and one day it's piss in a cup.
#6 Be on time every time is to be late every time. Be early every time is to be on time you never know what info you need to know.
#7 Don't talk bad about nobody even if your foreman is retarded. Loose lips sink ships someone will rat you out and throw you under the bus
#8 Don't even attempt to shyt were you eat. Even is a chick on site is giving you the come fukk me vibe. NO you here to make money not a love connection and next thing you getting fired for sexual harassment especially if the chick is non black.
#9 Temper,Temper. Keep that in check as much as much as you can. You will be tested.
#10 Stack up your money don't go in this burying to keep up with Jones's they ain't trying to keep up with you.

You gotta get in where you fit in. Everyone isn’t built to manage the bs in an office. Same with the bs in trades.
I’m on a jobsite right now (managing my team of subcontractors) where at least 50% of the cacs are probably in the klan and 80% in a militia.
You’d be hard pressed to work at an office with a similar mix unless you worked in an office capacity in law enforcement.
These are the upper echelon of lower tier CACs and they are actively trying to gate keep.

They don't know what a super does and if you on a big site there's plenty of supers and junior supers and it's not being a secretary there's a lot of responsibility.
