As much as I love baduizm, Mama’s gun is stronger and has more depth in every way. It’s less attached to the decade it came out in, and straight up timeless. The contributions from questlove and Roy Hargrove, alone, put it over the top sonically.

Baduizm had her in competition with other R&B artists. Mama’s Gun had her in competition with the world.

I’d never knock Baduizm it just felt more contained overall, while Mama’s Gun was was grander and more colorful.

I think The preference could also depend on the variety of music we digest.

I've always felt Baduizm was better but I listen to Mama's gun a lot more. I think I prefer the production on Mama's gun a little bit. Both great though.

Never forget the first time hearing "On & On", which is why I'm scratching my head as to why people are saying Mama's Gun has more depth. Like, are people even understanding what she was saying in that one song let alone the rest of the album.

It was pretty easily understood.

It just wasn’t as deep, expansive, or as vivid of a picture as the shyt on “Mama’s Gun”. I love “Baduizm”, but it was a first step into the artist she grew to be on “Mama’s Gun” and beyond.
