Yea, even without being mixed, people can still look similar to others. Some people just haven't met many Africans at all, which isn't surprising because in America were a very small minority.

At the bolded part - True to a certain extent. The main reason that some Zambians and Zimbabweans look similar is due to geographic location and not necessarily due to ethnic ties,as both countries have different ethnic populations within the countries. Also before anybody states that, "The borders of Africa are 'artificial'." Newsflash all polity borders are, have been and always will be artificial.
As a basic rule of thumb - genetic relatedness is proportional to geography. In other words, the closer ethnic groups are to each other geographically, the closer they are related to each other... on average.
