You gotta address that shyt now with a sense of urgency. It won't go away by itself :francis:

I know somebody close to me who has been stuck in life for over a decade now. Barely making any progress. Instead he's succumbed to various addictions as coping mechanisms and escapism.

I'll tell y'all what I told him:

1) our bodies are somewhat like batteries in a sense. We need to store up a lot of energy and that energy needs to go somewhere. If you're not physically active on a regular basis, that energy is turned inwards (worry, overthinking, anxiety etc). It's no coincidence that with the rise of ppl living a sedentary lifestyle we've seen a rise in anxiety, depression and other mental ailments. Establish a daily regiment of physical exercise.

2) anxiety in particular is also a problem of the ego. This is true for social anxiety in particular. You think you're the center of everybody's attention and that they are judging you negatively when in most cases ppl are too wrapped up in their own struggles and subjective experiences of the world. The moment you begin to see ppl as conscious beings who exist independent of you or your thoughts, your social anxiety will decrease. It might sound counterintuitive, but many ppl who suffer from anxiety also have a sense of grandiosity about themselves. They see the world and ppl around them as mental projections and not realities that exist independently of their mental experiences.

3) you might need supplements like vitamin d3, magnesium, zink and Omega-3. Try these supplements for a few months and see if they help you.

Try the above steps before you hop of meds. Even though meds might ultimately work for you as well.

Anyone who has advise is free to contribute. Especially those who have overcome depression, anxiety and other mental problems.

Definitely might work for some. Especially if they find the right therapist. For men in particular, talk therapy and psychoanalysis probably won't do much.

🧢🧢🧢..... it will do plenty...... a person suffering from anxiety and all the others who most likely has no idea why they are spinning their wheels is going to know better how to handle their mental issues than a traimed professional who has learned the way the human mind works amd can provide a structured understanding of why a person is thinking tje way they think?

:why:

Your heart is in the right place, but settle down wit that talk.. .

Seek help.

I'll add...black men go to black mental health therapist in mental health specialists. don't go to these white folks. It will just add to your mental stress. Nah, I'm dead serious.

Support Black psychologists and black psychiatrists. There really arent that many but they are very helpful.

Honestly I found that getting on a schedule and finding a hobby works for me. I'm diagnosed with depression and it gets bad sometimes. Any little thing that takes your mind off of it for a little while really helps

Talk therapy is not the only form of therapy. I didn't say all therapy will not work. Men typically benefit from different forms of therapy than "couch therapy". I base this on the writings of psychologists who work with males like Gregory Koufacos. Men benefit more from male mentorship, having a group of men they can bond with, being active etc.

Again, all individuals are different so this isn't set in stone. But I tend to agree with that position.
