You gotta address that shyt now with a sense of urgency. It won't go away by itself :francis:

I know somebody close to me who has been stuck in life for over a decade now. Barely making any progress. Instead he's succumbed to various addictions as coping mechanisms and escapism.

I'll tell y'all what I told him:

1) our bodies are somewhat like batteries in a sense. We need to store up a lot of energy and that energy needs to go somewhere. If you're not physically active on a regular basis, that energy is turned inwards (worry, overthinking, anxiety etc). It's no coincidence that with the rise of ppl living a sedentary lifestyle we've seen a rise in anxiety, depression and other mental ailments. Establish a daily regiment of physical exercise.

2) anxiety in particular is also a problem of the ego. This is true for social anxiety in particular. You think you're the center of everybody's attention and that they are judging you negatively when in most cases ppl are too wrapped up in their own struggles and subjective experiences of the world. The moment you begin to see ppl as conscious beings who exist independent of you or your thoughts, your social anxiety will decrease. It might sound counterintuitive, but many ppl who suffer from anxiety also have a sense of grandiosity about themselves. They see the world and ppl around them as mental projections and not realities that exist independently of their mental experiences.

3) you might need supplements like vitamin d3, magnesium, zink and Omega-3. Try these supplements for a few months and see if they help you.

Try the above steps before you hop of meds. Even though meds might ultimately work for you as well.

Anyone who has advise is free to contribute. Especially those who have overcome depression, anxiety and other mental problems.
I suffered from bad anxiety due to me being thrown from a car and my memory of the day slowly loading back into my brain, i didn’t get it under control until I started working out five times out the week, definitely helped a lot with my anxiety, i co-sign this

I'd like to hear your reasoning for number 2 before I say anything. Is this just your opinion on what it is? Because from your opening lines you don't have any personal experience with depression and anxiety... you know someone

Depression means you are seeing the world through the shame, gut remorse from the pass.

Anxiety comes from projecting too far into the future. Live in today, cherish the moment. Take time to process all of the I'll feelings from yesterday so that you have room to practice gratitude.

Is it possible to become an extrovert?
I don't think that's even the point.

It's more the idea of "You ain't meeting anyone if you stay home all day." So the point is to start putting yourself out there because eventually, you'll start forming social circles.

Like when you go to the gym for a while, the regulars start noticing you and things like that.

Maybe the hardest part is knowing where to go, but once you actually step out for a bit, things tend to work one way or the other.
